Synthetic or natural?

Alas it is not that simple, at least in current legal terms.

 

There is no definition of what is " natural " and what is " synthetic "

and no distinction is made for these either in drug laws or in food

laws. In fact, there is plenty of synthetic in food and supplements,

and plenty of natural in medicines.

 

The current legal definitions that deliminate foods and drugs are

" use-based " , that is, they look at what use a substance is put to,

not whether it is natural or not. To change this might be a noble

undertaking, but it requires some BIG re-thinking that no one seems

ready for quite yet.
