It showed three black men sitting on a bench, all naked. All basically alike. Except for the one in the middle. Whereas the ones at each end had black penises, the man in the middle had a pink one. A couple looked at the painting, looking somewhat confused. The museum curator walked over to them and said, " You look like you need an explanation of the painting. " " Oh yes, " the couple replied. " Well, it's not really just a picture of three Black men sitting together, but a representation of the oppression of blacks by white society which has even reached into the most private of all places--the bedroom. " " Oh, we see, " the couple said, not seeing at all. And as they turned away, the curator called out to them. " It's also a cry out against the oppression of gay men. " As the couple walked away from the painting, confused as ever, another man walked over to them. " Do you really want to know what that painting is about? " he asked, in lilting Irish tones. " Oh, please, don't confuse us further, " the couple said. " Oh, I won't. You see, I'm the painter. " He led them quietly back to the painting. " This is a picture of three Irish coal miners at the end of the day. Only the middle one went home for lunch. "
