Natural Fluoride Kills Yellowstone Elk

 

Elk that graze near the fluoride-rich hot pools and geysers of Yellow-stone

Natl. Park are dying about 5 years earlier than other elk in the park says

Robert Garrot, geology professor at Montana State Univ.

 

Fluoride is found naturally in the park, and elk take it in every time they eat

or drink in the geothermal areas, said Garrot, who is heading an ongoing study

of the relationship between fluoride and early elk deaths. That's especially the

case during the winter when the elk escape deep snow by congregating around the

hot pools
