Guest guest
I am not giving specific health care advice to this person who has a TMJ problem. I will, however, educate you to know that when the temporal bones are rotated it is usually also accompanied by or cause by a hypermobile sacro-iliac joint. Lay on ice ever 4 hours over hte weekend on your back over the S-I joint. This will probably stabalize the S-I joint enought to stabalize the temporal bone and take some stress off the TMJ. You can't get the sterring wheel to stop wobbling if you don't get the car aligned. Thank you, Dr. Sandra Lance, D.C. It started in about 1982 and it used to be very severe. > My jaw would stick, and all the other lovely things associated with it. Great pain. > Luckilly I had a good dentist who not only fitted me with a night-guard (my problem was clenching my teeth) but he taught me to--every 5 seconds if I had to--tell myself to 'relax my jaw and drop my shoulders'. > I also learned that it is not natural to walk around with clenched teeth! You may laugh, but it was a revelation to me. > > by telling myself to relax my jaw and drop my shoulders, and by wearing the night guard, I haven't had to take anything for it in a long while. There will be one or two occasional nights in a year where I know I clenched my teeth in my sleep and wear my nightguard the next couple nights for retraining--but I don't even wear that much anymore. > > I'm not trying to trivialize your situation--it sounds like its pretty bad pain for you to have to take that much painkillers, and I have been in a similar situation. > Have you tried the self-talk, and do you have a nightguard? As I say, this really helped me out. > > Best of luck- > -Glenna/Seattle > - > Nora Gottlieb > > Friday, January 07, 2005 6:14 AM > Re: Painkillers Damage Intestine, U.S. Expert Says > > > > Chiropractic adjustments can help TMJ , calcium/magnesium tablets help > reduce pain some what. ng > > > > - > " FrankT " <shepchapmo@e...> > > Friday, January 07, 2005 1:03 AM > Re: Painkillers Damage Intestine, U.S. > Expert Says > > > > > > > > i take 4 ultrams a day and 4 ibuprofen a day for severe TMJ pain what is > a person to do > > Frank > > > > ---
