Painkillers Damage Intestine, U.S. Expert Says

severe.

it. Great pain.

night-guard (my problem was clenching my teeth) but he taught me

to--every 5 seconds if I had to--tell myself to 'relax my jaw and drop

my shoulders'.

teeth! You may laugh, but it was a revelation to me.

wearing the night guard, I haven't had to take anything for it in a

long while. There will be one or two occasional nights in a year where

I know I clenched my teeth in my sleep and wear my nightguard the next

couple nights for retraining--but I don't even wear that much anymore.

pretty bad pain for you to have to take that much painkillers, and I

have been in a similar situation.

> Have you tried the self-talk, and do you have a nightguard? As I

say, this really helped me out.

Oddly enough, I found relief from facial pain when I finally talked my doctor

into trying a soft cervical collar for the whiplash I

suffered over a year ago. I had had Radio Frequency procedures on both sides of

my cervical spine and that took care of

the facial pain as well. Problem is, the procedure only lasted 5 months with

me. I'm not crazy about allopathic pain meds;

rhus tox helps but doesn't hold. Chiro helped but did not hold.

Yet, when I put on the collar, the facial pain disappeared. I brought this to

the attention of the oral surgeon I saw recently,

and he said the collar serves to lower the condyle out of the glenoid fossa. In

other words, it relieves the pressure and

removes the pain. He wants me to have a special splint made up to wear 24/7.

Meanwhile, I use the collar and wear an old

retainer I had at night. Not 100% relief, but I'm able to considerably reduce

the allopathic pain meds I'm taking.

Don't know if this will help you, Frank, but I thought I'd share.
