Guest guest
JoAnne or anyone else, would you be so kind to find me some articles on this? I need to educate a new mom on this. Her doctor has just put her on a high dose of Zoloft for this and I am very concerned for her. Thanks so much:) Lynn

I need to educate a new mom on this. Her doctor has just put her on a high dose of Zoloft for this and I am very concerned for her. Thanks so much:) Lynn Lynn, Zoloft is especially dangerous, even in small doses. If she has only been on the drug for several weeks, I would definitely encourage her to immediately stop taking it. The full " effects " are not experienced until one has been on it for thirty days or more. During this interim, I believe one can safely stop without experiencing any further withdrawal symptoms. I am speaking from experience, although it is not my own personal experience. This drug does NOT help depression rather as time goes on, the user sinks deeper and deeper into an unnatural drug related depressive state from which they cannot return. Some who have tried to stop, experience a series of symptoms described as 'fireworks' going off in their brain 24/7,... when the drug is tapered down slowly sometimes these annoying symptoms still occur. In addition I would warn her that one of the very real side effects (read the little paper...it may take a magnifying glass...) of this drug is sexual dysfunction, and the list goes on and on. The symptoms which she had previously which motivated her to get on this drug, will seem mild in comparison with what she will be experiencing if she continues on with this drug, especially if she is currently taking high doses. Horrendous symptoms have been experienced even with just one tiny pill per day! I convinced my daughter to stop after two weeks with literally no side effects. After that, I'm not so sure that one can effectively withdraw without serious consequences. Kind Regards, JoAnn
