Guest guest
SINCE YOU OFFERED TO SUPPORT THE TROOPS….. Perhaps you can start by sending some money to the widow and three small children, ages 2,3, and 4 years old, of this army paramedic, Clay Garton, who died the day after Christmas of Depleted Uranium Poisoning. He was a helicopter paramedic in Iraq for a year and a half, coming home to Fort Braggs in May, 2004. He was seemingly healthy at the time but at the end of September had a massive muscle spasm in his back and ran a high fever. By the time he died three months later, he had lost 30 pounds and was a shadow of the man his family had known. BACKGROUND: The US military has used over 1,000 Tons of solid uranium in Iraq since Operation Iraqi Freedom started almost 2 years ago. This dangerous radioactive material becomes pulverized dust which is spread everywhere and breathed by the troops and the civilians in Iraq. Over 27,000 US troops are already disabled. This radioactive material, this dust, is getting into the lungs and clothes of the troops. They are bringing the dust home to their families. The government is still taking the stand that the depleted uranium is not a health risk despite its own studies and its own regulations. Mr. Garton had to return to the VA hospital 7 times before he was given medical attention because the government didn’t acknowledge that he was sick. Responsible people take action to protect human life, especially when dealing with radioactive materials which are dangerous for millions of years. Your little bow will be no comfort to those who will die for no good reason but corporate greed, empire building, and total disregard for human life. The troops have nothing to say about the lack of protective gear. Your words will not protect them from depleted uranium. Would you send your own children off into depleted uranium with the words, “Honey, I support you!” Raising three children without a provider will not be easy, so please dig deep into your support you have so proudly pledged on the back of your car and send it to this family.
