low tyroid question

Hi all,

I've had problems with low thyroid. My doctor put me on Syntroid, and would

have to keep adjusting it, either higher or lower as the blood tests would

indicate. The 2nd half of 2004 my thyroid got high, so she took me off of

medication. My blood tests showed normal thyroid for a while, now it is

lower again... I'm sick of being on a synthetic thyroid medication, is there

anything natural I can take to help with this?

thank you,

Robin

Hey Robin,

You may want to check out some of the thyroid groups here on . Here's a

list I compiled for my friend:

Hypothyroidism (500 members)

http://health.hypothyroidism/

Another Hypothyroidism one (424 members)

http://health.hypothyroid/

2000 members:

http://health.thyroid/

542 members:

http://health.The_Thyroid_Support_Group/

Or http://www.thyrophoenix.com

California group:

http://health.California_Thyroid_Groups/

Natural Thyroid Hormone Users (775 members but high traffic/activity)

http://health.NaturalThyroidHormones/

From above group:

Welcome!! For decades, doctors have prescribed T4-only meds for hypothyroid

treatment (Synthroid, Levoxyl, etc.) But in thousands of hypo sufferers,

switching to Natural Thyroid Hormones (Armour, for example) proved to be FAR

superior. This group is for those already on natural thyroid or those who

would like to learn more about it! We welcome those still on T4-only--and

your questions.

I personally made a switch to natural thyroid after 17 years on T4-only

meds and the results were nothing short of AMAZING. While on synthetic T4, I

suffered needlessly with an extreme reaction to exercise of any

kind---debilitating fatigue, pounding heartrate, hot, sweating--similar to

Dysautonomia, a malfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System. Those symptoms

became SO bad that I almost took disability in early 2002. Now, all that has

CEASED since I started on natural thyroid. I was shocked!! I also notice so

many other surprise improvements since I switched--my hair, complexion,

elimination, mood, etc.

Unlike T4-only meds, naturals contain all the products that our own thyroid

would make--T4, T3, T2, T1, calcitonin. Additionally, just like our own

thyroid's would do if healthy, it provides direct T3, which is CRUCIAL.

Synthroid/Levoxyl are T4 only--no direct T3, resulting in symptoms that most

don't realize are caused by the inadequate treatment, including HIGH

CHOLESTEROL, DIGESTIVE and/or MENSTRUAL PROBLEMS, CHRONIC DEPRESSION,

continued stamina problems, including my own bizarre symptoms.

:-)
