I had a dentist's appointment this morning. The dental hygienist was doing

the dental bitewing x-rays, looked at my records, and noticed that I hadn't

had a full-mouth X-ray. She said that the dentist was doing full mouth

x-rays for anyone that hadn't had one in 4-5 years. So I said ok, sure,

even though my dental insurance only covers 80% of expenses, so this would

be an added expense. I had assumed it was something for my dental care.

 

Apparently an incorrect assumption. When my dentist came in and looked at

my full mouth x-ray, he asked me " You know why we're doing these things now?

 

For Homeland Security. If a terrorist tries to go through airport

security as " you " , they can pull up your dental records and check if the

person's dental work matches your dental records. Someone might match your

appearance with your hair and your glasses, but they won't get matching

dental work done. "

 

Which to me, seems like a pretty dumb assumption. The terrorists of 9-11

were fully aware that they would DIE as a result of their actions. Had a

little dental work been necessary, it seems pretty small-potatoes.

 

I thought about it and shortly after arriving back home, I called the

dentist's office and requested that my full-mouth x-ray be returned to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if the act of requesting my dental records be

returned to me rather than given to the government gets me flagged in some

database as a " radical " , but I honestly don't care. I don't want to be like

the German Jew who still insisted as he was being led into the gas chamber

that " Nothing will happen to me - I'm a GOOD German! "
