Guest guest
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Pay attention to this! Interesting, and very well hidden. For your information ... You can opt out is now using something called " Web Beacons " to track users around the net and see what you're doing and where you are going - similar to cookies. is recording every website and every group you visit. Take a look at their updated privacy statement: http://privacy./privacy About half-way down the page, in the section on cookies, you will see a link that says " web beacons " . Click on the phrase web beacons. That will bring you to a paragraph entitled " Outside the Network. " In this section, if you scroll down you'll see a little " click here to opt out " link that will let you " opt-out " of their new method of snooping. Once you have clicked that link, you are exempted. Notice the " Success " message on the top of the next page. Be careful because on that page there is a " Cancel Opt-out " button that, if clicked, will *undo** the opt-out. Feel free to forward this to other groups. torpedo los! herr kaleun
Guest guest
Hello group, As a foot note to this post, I have to tell you...I've considered avoiding for the intrusion reasons listed in the post. If it weren't for this group I would avoid like the plague! After having some file deletion problems that were messing up my computer, I discovered I had a trojan parasite. It wasn't noticable until my rundll file disappeared and I could no longer access control panel or my calendar. I downloaded a program called adaware and when I ran a scan it found over 1000 spyware programs! It took three hours to delete these parasites. Since that time I've had to reformat my hard drive. In an experiment, I ran adaware after visiting only this group. It found 13 " data miners " after approximately 20 minutes online. I haven't downloaded a blocker program yet, but every time I go online I run the adaware program and there's always some kind of date miner found, most after visiting this group. Lavasoft has a free version of adaware that will scan and clean the parasites such as data miners and malware. I don't know what category the web beacons mentioned in the post fall under, but just be aware that as you sit here reading these posts, parasites are being injected into your hard drive unless you have a good, updated blocker. Virus blockers do not block these parasites, which I didn't know and thought I was protected. It's very frustrating to me...I use my computer to search for information and knowledge and hate being targeted (stalked) for commercial purposes. This group is very important to me and I value the information I get here enough to risk infection, but it's just plain sad we have to forfiet our security for the sake of being informed. --Kat
