Guest guest
Hello All! I'm just wondering if anyone here has used a neti pot, and if so, the results? Hubby has sinus problems and from what I've read, these sound like they could be useful to him, but he's not real sure on that! So, if anyone has good news for him, we'd love to hear it. Thanks, Nancy

Guest guest
Nancy, I have been using a neti pot off and on for almost a year. I use warm water and a teaspon of salt. I try to run the water through each side (nostril) twice. When I am having real sinus problems I put five drops of Goldenseal extract in with the saltwater. You need to buy the liquid extract that has no alcohol in it or it will really dry everything up. I takes some getting used to using the neti pot. You want the water to go in one nostril and out the other, then switch. You don't want the water going down your throat or out your mouth. A guy at work had surgery on his septum and now uses a waterpick to clean his sinuses. Yuck! It works great for cleaning the sinus of mucus. A little bit goes a long ways Do a search and you can find the best prices from e stores. The price can range from $2 to $5 for 16 oz bottle, depending where you purchase it. Here In Seattle it can be purchased at the local Bartells Pharmacy upon request. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip. By the way, any small tea pot works well as a substitute for a Neti Pot. You can find one in a thrift store, for example one of the little metal ones used in restaurants for single servings of tea. For example, you can fill it with some warm salty water, put the nozzle in one nostril with your head over a sink. Tip your head slightly until the water runs through your sinuses and comes out the other side into the sink. It is easy and feels good.
