Which Senators to contact to ask them to contest the election

Here are the most important points of the people's comments which I included

below. Byrd would be a good choice if you will only contact one, but it would

be best for as many people as possible to contact all the Democratic Senators

so they all know how we feel. We need to organize a massive protest before

Inauguration day to make Congress hear us.

Here is a link to contact information.

U.S. Senate: Senators Home

...........................

I have met and talked with my other Senator from Florida, Bill Nelson. At a

local town meeting here, he told us that if we want Washington to hear us,

go there and make so much noise that they have to listen. He is pretty open

about doing what is right. Bill Nelson (D) FL should be on the list also.

Sen. Bill Nelson (D) FL

DC 202-224-5274

DC fax 202-228-2183

in FL 1-888-671-4091

Fl fax 407-827-7165

Regarding your first sentence below: In my opinion, ALL Dem. Senators should

hear our plea from as many people as possible so they know there is support

for this from the masses. Like bill said, the louder we speak, the better

they will listen.

Best to you,

Steve Hunter

Yes indeed. Robert Byrd (D-WV) is one of my top

choices to bring to the Senate floor a challenge to

the 2004 election. He is very old, absolutely

fearless, and a fellow musician. His speeches against

the Iraq war resolution are for the history books. I

may have them in my archives. I plan to write to him

shortly. Here is my letter to Barack Obama (D-IL):

Dear Senator-Elect Obama,

I am an expert statistician for the pending lawsuit

challenging the election results in Ohio. I started

out alone, and now am working directly with the Free

Press and Common Cause. My most compelling study so

far is attached. It is an exhaustive study of every

ward and 1/4 of the precincts in Columbus, showing

that turnout for John Kerry was severely reduced by an

uneven distribution of voting machines.

Franklin County Board of Elections Director Matt

Damschroder deliberately withheld voting machines from

predominantly black Democratic wards in Columbus, and

dispersed some of the machines to affluent suburbs in

Franklin County. The idea was to discourage turnout

in Democratic wards by forcing voters to wait in long

lines at the polling places. I send you the study as

a Microsoft Word attachment.

I saw you on the Tavis Smiley show immediately after

the 2004 general election. When asked if you would be

willing to challenge the presidential election results

on the Senate floor, you did not say no. As of this

writing, the General Accounting Office (GAO) has

received letters of concern from 14 members of

Congress, listed below.

John Conyers (D-MI)

Jerrold Nadler (D-NY)

Robert Wexler (D-FL)

Robert Scott (D-GA)

Melvin Watt (D-NC)

Rush Holt (D-NJ)

Tammy Baldwin (D-WI)

Louise Slaughter (D-NY)

George Miller (D-CA)

John Olver (D-MA)

Bob Filner (D-CA)

Gregory Meeks (D-NY)

Barbara Lee (D-CA)

Jan Schakowsky (D-IL)

In addition, Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) has come out in

support of the Ohio recount.

Some, or all, or even more of these Representatives

are likely to want to contest the election before the

electoral votes are counted in January. They will

need the support of at least one Senator. I imagine

that, as an entering freshman, you would prefer not to

have to be the one. But you did win by an

overwhelming margin. Not many persons, so early in

their careers, are offered the choice between being a

politician and being a statesman. I pray that you

will agree to do this, and maybe you can convince a

few others, maybe even John Kerry and John Edwards, to

join you.

I will write to Byrd today.

As for your other choices:

Joe Biden is a man of great courage, and is the only

Senator who has a child fighting in Iraq.

John Edwards will be out of the Senate by January.

John Kerry -- who knows?

Bob Graham will be out of the Senate by January.

Ted Kennedy has nothing to lose, and is the senior

Senator from Massachusetts.

Barbara Mikulski appears to have a safe seat. I don't

know anything about her politics.

I would add these names to your list of possibilities:

Tom Harkin (D-IA) -- an old-fashioned Hubert Humphrey

liberal, with the fire in the belly.

Carl Levin (D-MI) -- a thoughtful, senior member, with

a demonstrated sense of justice.

Kent Conrad (D-ND) -- a man of high principle, a

budget hawk, who just this week exposed the hastily

enacted clause giving Senators the power to obtain and

disclose anybody's income tax returns.

Russ Feingold (D-WI) -- a maverick, known for taking

positions that no one else will.

My friend from Altoona, who has a good sense for these

things, says not to give up on Hillary Clinton, that

she is capable of putting aside personal ambition for

the greater good. I generally hear otherwise, but I

felt I should relay this opinion.

If this is true, then Barbara Boxer should be

contacted, and it would then be an affront not to

contact Diane (sp?) Feinstein. I still have my stated

reservations, but that is because I never really know

whom to trust.
