Seventy five percent of the white Americans had levels less than 32 ng/ml. Scragg's group found no such association in black Americans; probably because most Blacks have been vitamin D deficient for so long their pancreas has lost sensitivity to vitamin D. The risk for Hispanic Americans was six fold . http://care.diabetesjourna ls.org/cgi/content/abstract/27/12/2813 Dr. Scragg has published more than 140 articles over his 50 year career as an epidemiologist.
