New Version Of Cointelpro By Homeland Security Against Bush

Dissenters

First there was the closing down of areas for dissent around

the White House and the Capital Mall. Then there was the Patriot

Acts. Then there

were the no fly lists which included nuns who dared to speak out

against

Bush policies, domestic and foreign. Then there were arrests and

detentions

of foreign nationals without any judicial review. And largely

unknown to the public then there were arrests of US citizens and

incarcerations without

noticification of kin, judicial review or even formal charges--on the

basis of

" national security "

Now using the new format of homeland security, intelligence

agencies

have begun forming " unofficial " working relationships with local

police,

prosecutors, right wing veterans groups and even Young Republican

organizations to target dissenters and even musicians whose lyrical

content is deemed to be " unacceptable " by the right wing neo-con

fundamentalist Bush Administration. When intelligence informs the

local police about the " unpatriotic " tendencies of Bush dissenters,

their

local associates visits schools, places of employment, neighbors or

venues such as bars where musicians perform--attempting to portray

target dissenters as " security risks " to the locals.

These activities have recently crossed another line where

events

are staged in order to arrest the target dissenters on manufactured

charges or bring violence by vigilante groups against targeted Bush

dissenters with police complicity or at least tacit approval.

A veteran activist who testified with John Kerry in the 1971

VVAW

camp in on the DC Mall (before the Senate Foreign Relations

Committee),

has reported these breeches of Constitutional protections along with

nuns,

School of the Americas (old name) activists, anti-NAFTA marchers, etc.

to the traditional civil liberties groups such as the ACLU and

National

Lawyers groups--without much success. The motto that what goes

around, comes around seems to have been forgotten. It now seems

apparent that the death squad groupings and " dirty tricks " of the

School Of The Americans, which was used in times past against

Mossadegh in Iran

or Allende in Chile have been adapted to usage by the Mercer County

Sheriff's Department in southern West Virginia..

In the face of the continuing assaults of Constitutional

government

by the Bush Regime and the massive voter fraud which has just occured

in

the Nov. election it is absolutely essential that all progressive

lawyer groups

be revitialized and ready for the struggles to come. We must try to

re-establish the election process before it is lost to selection

process forever
