Guest guest
Where is this facility and what exactly do you mean about " very strange things going on there " . I'm about to put my mother in a home and have become very active in groups dedicated to nursing home reform. Guest guest
Let me put it to you as delicately as possible. If your mother owns a home, she will live a long life there. If she does not have good insurance and a home that they can attach, don't place her there. Get in home help. Do alot of research first. Talk to patients and visitors first. DO NOT rely on the staff to give you any kind of truthful info. on 2/2/04 7:17 PM, Maija Merchant at aeonflux wrote: > Where is this facility and what exactly do you mean about " very strange > things going on there " . Guest guest
Linda....let me put it to YOU as frankly as possible. I have taken care of my mother for 4 years, she has Alzheimers and Parkinsons and is only 62, my father and I are financially devastated, and we are tired...we have sold our home and need to get on with our lives. We deserve to have our lives back as much as she deserves the skilled nursing care that we can not provide. I have spent the last year doing research and have visited over 100 facilities in California. I have found a good facility and though here are many facilities that leave much to be desired, there are many more that do a fine job at a thankless task. To tell you the truth, I hope to God that you are not a TCM practitioner ready to throw out your subjective uniformed snap opinion when ever the opportunity arises. The lesson here folks: always ask questions before you open your mouth or put fingers to the keys. Linda wrote: > Let me put it to you as delicately as possible. Guest guest
I am happy that you found a good one. My daughter lost 15 pounds in two months in the place that she is in. Now you could say that is not unusual, but she is a tube feed. If she is not maintaining her weight someone is not doing their job, period. She is 17 and is totally dependant on the care they are giving her. on 2/3/04 1:35 AM, Maija Merchant at aeonflux wrote: > Linda....let me put it to YOU as frankly as possible. Guest guest
Dear Califpacific, I've often thought that with the price of nursing homes or assisted living facilities you would be better off just checking into a hotel when you got too old to maintain a household. Of course, the hotel offers no medical facilities so keeping health in your younger years helps avoid that cost. Perhaps if the Bush family didn't own such a high investment in nursing homes, we could get Medicare coverage for Princess. ---- Original Message ----- " califpacific " <califpacific Sunday, October 24, 2004 7:15 PM Joke?, Maybe. But thought provoking
