Guest guest
Thanks for the info Re: nosebleeds, JoAnn and Steve - all cleared up now and in the past ... why is it - can someone please tell me, that we only really appreciate our health when we lose it! At one time in the week I actually thought 'this is it', I was losing so much lifeblood and I was coughing up thick clots from the back of my throat - at one time I was losing blood from both nostrils and it was coming out of my mouth! But, as your article shows JoAnn - it looks a lot worse than it actually is, we can actually lose a litre of the red stuff and still be ok (dont try this at home!) It never ceases to amaze me how absolutely fantastic our bodies are - how many people out there know where abouts in the body the actual blood is manufactured? No, nither did I pre-nosebleed ... A single drop of blood contains more than 250 million seperate blood cells and you have 3 types of blood cell, each of which performs a different function. Red blood cells transport oxygen and carbon dioxide. White blood cells defend the body against attack, and lastly platelets or thrombocytes act on blood clotting - and all this is suspended in Plasma which makes up 55% of our blood ... plasma is over 90% water (wow!) so all the more reason to drink pure water. The blood is mainly produced in the bone marrow although the white cells are produced in many places including the lymph nodes, the spleen, the thymus, the tonsils, the bone marrow and other parts of the lymph system. Dear body, please forgive me for all those cigarettes I've smoked + all the alcohol I've consumed + all the junk food I've eaten etc., etc., etc. Father forgive us - we knew not what we did! Ray.
