Guest guest
A message forwarded by a friend here in Italy - drugging children Kind regards Sepp If it seems as if kids have been under attack lately...they have! In late September, two separate FDA advisory committees gave the okay to administer a powerful stimulant - dextroamphetamine - to healthy children as young as nine as part of a study on ADHD. They, along with children already diagnosed with ADHD, would be given this drug and their brains would be monitored by MRI. When I read that the Pediatric Advisory Committee had agreed to use healthy kids as guinea pigs, it made me wonder if these people had any ethical values left. Their reasoning is that the advancement of science far outweighs the risks posed by drugging healthy children. Hogwash! What's even more unbelievable is that this decision was made despite a March 2004 decision by the National Institutes of Health Internal Review Board. They found that " the administration of dextroamphetamine posed more than minimal risks to healthy children. " Drugs are not the answer to ADD and ADHD, and drugging healthy children is just wrong. You can help me fight the FDA on this one. The final decision on whether to turn our kids into guinea pigs lies in the hands of Tommy Thompson, the head of the Department of Health and Human Services. Allowing this to happen would set a dangerous precedent. I urge you to e-mail Tommy Thompson (<%20tommy.thompsontommy.thompson) and encourage him to " Just Say No " for the sake of our children and grandchildren. -- The individual is supreme and finds its way through intuition. Guest guest
Hello all, Im new to this group and i just thought i'd put my " 2 cents " in on this subject of drugging kids with add/adhd. i beleive it to be (from personal ecperience) to be somewhat hereditary. My mother was diagnosed with it (adhd) and doctors had her on Phenabarbatal (not sure if that spelling is correct) until she was 16. When i was diagnosed she refused to let them drug me, although it was a long dificult road through school i survived without being medicated. Then i had children of my own, a daughter and 2 son's. when my oldest (rose) was diagnosed i as well would not let them drug my daughter to suit the school's lack of education on the subject and did alot of research on my own. what i came up with was a vitamin E type therapy. my daughter is in high school now, and over the years she has learned when to identify when she need's help copeing with the effects of the adhd and simply takes a vitamin E wether it be at home or at school,(she went from failing grades to a b average within 2 months of starting with the vitamin E), This has also worked very well with my youngest son, who was also diagnosed. His was alot more severe with the hyperactivity than my daughter's was. But bottom line Just like my mother i refused to beleive that dopeing up my children just couldnt be the only answer. So for those parents with children that have the same type of issues, PLEASE look for alternative treatments that will be more body friendly to our children, From personal family experience i have seen the difference between the afects of perscription drugs verses natural remedies, and i will choose natural every time!.....Tina-Usti Waya , " Sepp (Josef) Hasslberger " <sepp@l...> wrote: > > A message forwarded by a friend here in Italy - drugging children > > Kind regards > Sepp > > > > If it seems as if kids have been under attack lately...they > have!
