The cooking destroys the enzymes in the vegetables and make them far less digestible and far less effective in treating cancer. Pasteurizing fruit drinks also does this. This is why so many cancer diets are very high in certain raw vegetables and certain raw fruits. Juicing of certain raw vegetables and raw fruits is also good in some cases (but not all cases, especially when the seeds are important) because the vegetables and fruits are more easily digested (translation: more nutrients get to the cancer cells). However, when you juice you throw away a lot of nutrients. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Great Article! I do believe, and I tell my clients, you have to put food first. When you look at the foods that are healthy, and the ones that fight this disease, you come up with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. I don't think it is a coincidence that these foods are the staples of the macrobiotic diet, which is considered a " cancer diet " . We need to eat foods that fight the disease, not ones that feed the disease. Eating is a habit, and it can just as easily be a good habit as a bad one. It is not difficult, it is just different. We are lucky we live in this age. We have the knowledge, and it is so much easier to do. Now, you can have snack foods and convenience foods that are macrobiotic. You can even have macrobiotic foods delivered right to your door, like I do. It is amazing how much better a person feels when they start eating natural whole foods.
