Safe Harbor Honors Dr. Doris Rapp, Oct. 7

Safe Harbor takes great pride in presenting our 2004 Lighthouse Award

to legendary allergist Dr. Doris Rapp at 7:30 PM on Thursday, October

7, at our Fourth Annual Awards Benefit at the Glendale Hilton in the

Los Angeles area. Dr. Rapp is the author of numerous books, including

the New York Times bestseller Is This Your Child? and the 2004 release

Our Toxic World. She rose to prominence when her appearances on

Donahue, Oprah, Larry King Live, and other shows raised national

awareness that hidden childhood allergies often contribute to

behavioral problems.

Safe Harbor's Lighthouse Award is presented to men and women who make

outstanding contributions to humanity by forwarding truly safe and

effective mental health treatments.

Helping us honor Dr. Rapp will be Dr. Laura Schlessinger, America's

most popular radio therapist and author of seven New York Times

bestsellers, including her current blockbusters The Proper Care and

Feeding of Husbands and Woman Power.

Los Angeles-based Safe Harbor, the nation's leading nonprofit for

non-drug mental health education, is perhaps best known for their work

sponsoring the world's largest web site on this topic at

http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/. Safe Harbor emphasizes the

role of underlying physical causes in mental disorders, such as

medical problems, allergies, toxic conditions, and nutritional imbalances.

" Dr. Rapp has impacted a generation of children through her books, TV

appearances, and clinical practice, " said Dan Stradford, Safe Harbor's

president. " She was the first to video children before and after

being exposed to allergens such as foods and airborne substances,

showing astonishing negative behavioral changes that some kids

experience. After one Donahue show on which these videos appeared,

she received 140,000 letters. She has saved countless children from

being unnecessarily placed on psychotropic medication. "

Also honored at the Safe Harbor Benefit will be nutritional

psychiatrist Melvyn Werbach, M.D., internationally-recognized author

and editor of seven texts, including such classic works as Nutritional

Influences on Mental Illness and Nutritional Influences on Illness.

Music will be performed by rock gospel queen Robbie Brown and hors

d'ouevres will be served.

Tickets are $95 in advance and $125 at the door. Some seating at Dr.

Rapp's or Dr. Laura's table is still available at $500 per seat.

Seating is limited and there is a lot of buzz about this event so

register early!!

For ticket information or to register, contact Safe Harbor at (323)
