Question about HDL

A friend called tonite and was telling about her hubby's HDL. The doc's office

called Friday with the result of 28. I asked if she meant 280 or some thing.

Nope. And that was the only thing they told her.

Looks like she needs some help pumping up that figure.

Any ideas???

Thanks everybody.

Peace and good health,

MaryKaye

All manner of things are said to help increase HDL, including exercise,

weight loss, the use of certain oils, including high omega 3 oils, and

grape-seed oil. Niacin, I believe, can also help control cholesterol, and

increase HDL. I use the " flush free " form of Niacin; it's referred to as

Inositol Hexanicotinate (or Hexaniacinate). I'm currently taking 4 grams,

in two 2 gram doses.

I have heart disease, and when first diagnosed, my HDL was 20! A few years

later, it was 30, and most recently, it tested at 40. So far, something

appears to be slowly raising my HDL, and it must be my diet, and the

application of the items I mentioned above, plus some others. It sure as

hell isn't happening by itself, since heart disease is believed to be

" progressive " in the thinking of current cardiology. They say it can't get

better, but can only be delayed with drugs and surgery. I'm keeping my

fingers crossed.
