" The majority of Americans want strong environmental laws. The majority of Americans don't want assault weapons. The majority of Americans want health care. The majority of Americans believe the war is wrong, " Moore said. " The reason they are angry is because they know the game is up. They can stay in power only if we stay in bed on election day. " " What could be more American than questioning those in power? " * War Crimes Hearings by Veterans - Sgt. Scott Camil of the 1st Marine Division, in Vietnam from March 1966 until November 1967, explained that the main thing was that if an operation was covered by the press there were certain things we weren't supposed to do, but if there was no press there, it was okay. I saw one case where a woman was shot by a sniper, one of our snipers. When we got up to her she was asking for water. And the lieutenant said to kill her. So he ripped off her clothes, they stabbed (snip) (September 23, 2004) * Lest We Forget and Repeat the Past Time to Commit - Bush has thrown 160,000 veterans off VA healthcare, and his new Veterans budget will substantially raise fees for the men and women who have put their lives on the line defending our nation. In the midst of a major crisis in affordable housing, the president also wants to decimate the Section 8 program....This campaign isn't about George Bush and John Kerry. (And it certainly isn't about Ralph Nader; a progressive vote for Nader is in effect a vote for Bush.) It's about a corporate class that has gained unprecedented ground in the last four years and, by extension, the territory ceded by the rest of America. " (September 23, 2004) * Vote Against Bush USS Liberty Incident - Yes, Israel has received favored treatment and the reasons are deep and complicated, sometimes emotional, sometimes by perceptions, right or wrong, that Israel is threatened, sometimes by treaty arrangements and contingencies of peace treaties and attempts at achieving peace by presidents and the Israeli government and sometimes by joint arrangements for defense. The U.S. sometimes looks the other way and sometimes encourages violations of laws, both legal and moral. There is a right-wing in Israel which must be opposed by all progressives. If this was a right-wing plot it should be exposed, but I don't believe it was. I believe this was a case of friendly fire and to make anything else of it is dishonest and wrong. Having said that and pursuant to the article by me, which is attached herewith, Israel must be pressured to end the occupation of Palestinians and we must encourage progressives in Israel and Palestinians to come together and reconcile their long established differences in favor of peace and self-determination and security. This will take progressives working together in Palestine, in Israel, and elsewhere. While it is possible peace can be achieved in two separate countries, the ideal condition, which I support, is one secular country based on ultimately a blending of Muslims and Jews and emerging as one people united with common goals and seeking justice... (September 22, ( Most U.S. Jews are against Bush ) 2004) * Progressives Seek Truth and Justice Body Bags - Bush got a gift of September 11th. It turned his approval rating around and he had his glory war for oil with Iraq. Now he is in deep doodoo and he can't even say " I'm sorry " or go to a fallen soldier's funeral. That is because he lied to ya folks. AND the employee who took pictures of all those coffins which appeared in the Seattle paper and now are on the internet was fired. You just can't be trusted to know too much or why 77,000 American body bags were ordered by the Pentagon for the war in Iraq. (September 20, 2004) * Trashing the Truth Bush Crime Family - The Preface to The Secret Government: The Constitution in Crisis with Excerpts from " An Essay on Watergate " by Bill Moyers, from Seven Locks Press, 1989 is illustrative of another time, in some ways not so different than this one where a president violated the public trust and lied and people died, and soon if we're lucky George W. Bush will be gone also, but like post Iran/Contra it is unlikely that anyone will be punished, in spite of the veterans with missing limbs and tens of thousands of Americans and Iraqis who are dead because of the policies of the imperial presidency and the right-wing zealots who work for the Bush crime family.
