An Immune Tune! http://www.bastis.org/articles/immune.shtml If you're reading these words, I'll bet you're the owner of a human body. What's more, I'll bet it didn't come with an owner's manual -- you know, something to give you at least half an idea of how it works, how to maintain it in prime condition, and a troubleshooting page full of " frequently asked questions. " Doesn't seem fair, does it? After all, this is probably the only body you'll ever have in this lifetime. Even the simplest clock radio comes with an owner's manual. What is this, planned obsolescence? While it's true that today's technology allows us to replace body parts with transplants, someone else has to die first. The whole process is messy and painful and really hard on the other person's family, and afterwards, you have to hold your breath a long time before you're sure your body isn't going to reject the new organ. The question is: why do some bodies last a long time in relatively good working order while others don't? What are those body owners doing that the broken-down-body owners aren't? What You Can Do I'm not an auto mechanic, but I know my car only runs well when I treat it with respect. I try not to hit things with it, always use premium fuel, and have the oil changed regularly. I know that when the engine gets filled with sludge, it gets sluggish, overheats, and has a hard time getting from point " A " to point " B. " So when my car is due for a tune-up, it gets a tune-up. I refuse to trash my vehicle; I'm not about to be stranded anywhere without my wheels. Yeah, it's getting up there in years, but the old girl still runs pretty darned well. In the past, I trashed my body and it stranded me. Even though it was young, my body gave out on me because it was too filled with sludge to keep functioning. Oh, it sent me warning signals, but unlike the blinking lights on my car dash, I completely ignored them. " Body Alert! I can't breathe! Oxygen levels dangerously low! Cough! Cough! Cough! " I didn't catch on until I had developed full- blown pneumonia. After getting worse under the care of conventional allopathic medicine, I sought the services of a homeopathic doctor. He told me I was a trash collector and I'd been using my body as the dump! Shamefaced, I realized he was right -- for years I'd been filling my one-time-only corporeal mass with junk and never taking the time to get rid of any of it. Not only did I sing seven nights a week in a smoky nightclub, but I was hooked on sweets -- ice cream, coffee with sugar, chocolate candy, donuts . . . I wanted him to give me something to get rid of the pneumonia. He told me I had to get rid of what had caused the pneumonia before I could get rid of the illness itself -- and the cause was my body being in toxic overload from all my junk-food eating and oxygen-depleted-environment living. I wouldn't get any better, he said, if I didn't cleanse from the inside out. It sounded like an awful lot of work, but I couldn't ignore the fact that it made sense. After all, when I change the oil in my car, the mechanic drains all the old, sludgy oil out before he adds any new, clean engine fluid. It was time to do an immune tune! The first body area to develop illness is usually the colon. The lining fills up with sludge, slows down nutrient absorption, and worst of all, prevents good oxygen exchange. So when you're ready to start on the road to good health, the best way to begin is with a Colon Cleanse. As our twentieth century ended, around the world was heard the echo: " Out with the old; in with the new. " This saying obviously has more than one meaning. Out With The Old; In With The New Another important step is learning to breathe your way to good health -- and it is as simple as that. We've all got to breathe all day long to survive anyway, so why not breathe your way to vibrant health? The key is learning how to do it right, to obtain the maximum benefits for your body. Believe me, it's not as hard as you might think. As a singer, nothing is more important to me than being able to get a deep breath to support the notes I sing. As a human body owner, it is important to know that the real key to good health -- the easiest way to achieve weight loss and vitality, and decrease pain and illness -- is to increase your body's oxygen levels and decrease its carbon-dioxide levels as much as possible. What does oxygen do for you besides let you live? Not all that much - - it just helps your cells metabolize nutrients for energy, maintenance, repair, and healing. And it affects your blood flow -- you know, how your heart and arteries work, things like the diameter of your blood vessels and your blood pressure and the work output of your heart. Oh, and one more thing -- breathing techniques also directly affect your brain function. But the biggest benefit of flooding your body with oxygen is its action as the chief body cleanser. You can eliminate wastes, debris, toxins, and all other body pollutants simply through proper exhaling. Carbon dioxide is the most abundant end-product of metabolism, as a matter of fact. The others are eliminated through urine, bowels, and sweat glands. Deep, diaphragmatic breathing exercises will stimulate your lymph system to clean itself out, by creating a vacuum effect that pulls the lymph through the bloodstream at a much greater rate than normal shallow breathing. Since I've made breathing exercises part of my daily living habits, I've noted a tremendous number of benefits: my energy level has increased; I rarely get sick (in spite of daily exposure to clients' illnesses); I have better mental clarity; and I just plain feel great! So for the easiest, most effective immune tune, think and do: " Out with the Old (toxins, in the form of excessive carbon dioxide); In with the New " (live-saving oxygen).
