Guest guest
My girlfriend swears by yam creams after years of HRT, pills, pills and more pills. Sorry I don't have a brand, but a reputable health food store would carry this. =================================== On Mon, 13 Sep 2004 23:05:30 -0500 Poneyboy <poneyboy writes: My Wife had a hysterectomy (SP) about 10 years ago. and to this day she suffers from sever hot flashes. she does not and will not take ERP therapy for it and I back her up on that choice. I was wondering if someone could list SEVERAL ideas because the first may not work and we may have to try another. if its ok could u name the product that we can goto the health food store to get that has the mix of herbs already mixed up, like a brand name, it will be easier for us to know what to look for that way. she is desperate to get relief from the rapid cold to hot she goes through. many thanks. Guest guest
Dear Poneyboy, First I would like to thank you for having such concern for your wife. Something very extreme was done to her. Her uterus was cut out, probably her ovaries as well. This is akin to a man have his testes removed, so you can probably imagine how that might affect your hormones. In Silent Passage, a book about menopause, the author states that 30% of woman in America have their uterus removed, so your wife is not alone. I wish we could all take a minute to reflect on the daily suffering this woman and millions of others are experiencing, suffering which you state minimally and politely. This is outrageous and unnatural that women are being mutilated in this way! The library has many books for survivors of this butchery. It will help in the psychological healing process to know that there are many others suffering in a similar way. The truth is, it is a huge trauma to have a major organ system removed, especially one so necessary for hormonal function. Dr. Lee is famous for his knowledge about menopause, which is essentially what a woman is plunged into when her uterus and ovaries are removed. This might be a good place to start. http://www.johnleemd.com/ I guess this could be seen as a wake up call to pay more attention to one's overall health, nutrition, exercise, toxins (cigarettes, alcohol, preservatives, etc, etc, etc) Improving your overall health can only help. Alternative Medicine Forum is full of info to get you started. It's some work, but you are worth it. And whatever else you do in the coming years, hang onto your body parts! Your gallbladder may be their next target.
