The amount of airborne mercury deposited on Mobile in 2003 was two to five times greater than the quantity recorded over much of eastern North America, according to data supplied by the Mercury Deposition Network. Only one monitor in North America recorded mercury fallout greater than that recorded near Bay Minette, and that was at a station west of Fort Lauderdale in the Florida Everglades.
