Although this book will receive no publicity on major

media the Kerry smear book will probably be given

unpaid ads every few minutes on TV disguised as

" news " .

During the Viet Nam War, the ones who didn't want to

go to Viet Nam had a limited number of options.

One was to leave the country and quite a few went to

Canada and had to accept the consequnces.

Others became conscientious objecters which was a

difficult road to go and may were denied that right

and were either prosecuted if they did not go or if

they did go many were forced to operate as battlefield

medical orderlies in the war zone.

The best way to get out of Viet Nam for those who

didn't want to stand up for their convictions was to

go into the National Guard. Everyone knew at the time

that it was a place to hide and nothing more. It

definately was the cowards way out at the time. The

Guard even used to make jokes that they would be the

very last to fight. It would only happen if North Viet

Nam invaded the USA. Since it was a very small, poor country

with no navy it seemed like a pretty safe bet.

The use of national guard troops was changed by law

later to allow their use outside the United States.
