Guest guest
Hi. I'm new to this group. Just wondered if anyone who suffers from depression had attempted treating it with high levels of EPA, and if so, did they feel their symptoms improved? I use Fish Oil, Magnesium and a good Probiotic Fiber for my gut. i also take selenium and glycine. Seems to work wonders. I got off paxil cold turkey 18 months ago. Not until i seriously started taking magnesium did i start to heal. but the Fish Oil (EPA) really helped perk up from the depression. Guest guest
Please read the many messages in our archives that we have posted in the last couple of months on depression, ssri's, etc. Also you can go to our links page where we have links to resources for depression. Depression can be from different nutritional deficiencies or can be caused by toxic exposure or other things. Efa's are great but are only one item on a list of possiblities. Also please be aware that any psychotropic medication must be tapered very slowly. There are probably thousands of messages in our archives that cover depression and/or psychotropics. Guest guest
I eat sardines or salmon (both canned) everyday so I get lots of EPA. I also started taking some flax oil again. I also have tried almost every natural remedy for depression that I know of (mag. citrate, 5- htp, tyrosine, st johns wort, b vitamins, etc.) with very little result. The 5-htp does seem to help with sleep. I take a little under the tongue before bed. I'd take more but it gives me loose poo's. But it does relieve the early morning depression somewhat. Maybe the fish and flax IS helping...I don't know, as I've been using it for years. Maybe I'd be much worse (can't imagine) without it...........? , " monsterfromid66 " <monsterfromid66> wrote: > Hi. Guest guest
I had not heard of using biotin before. I used it once for candidiasis a long time ago. Maybe there's a relationship... And 500 mg of B complex? Do they even make 'em that big? Maybe niacin.. but not a complex..? Anyway, thanks, maybe i'll give it a try. , " Margaret " <me.chalkley@b...> wrote: > I found this in an Adelle Davis Book and it worked for me:- > . > When I feel down I take BIOTIN > A one off dose of six milligrams along with a 500 mg Vitamin B complex pill > > I would be interested if this was effective for you > > Margaret > > - > yoonit > > Thursday, August 12, 2004 2:07 PM > Re: treating depression with essential fatty acids > > > I eat sardines or salmon (both canned) everyday so I get lots of EPA. > I also started taking some flax oil again.
