Guest guest
Hello ListMates: I'm in a bit of a time crunch here, we're scheduled to leave for vacation tomorrow. I'm hoping there's some folks out there with animal experience. I have a multicat household, and apparently in the midst of a brawl one of my cats caught a claw in her lower lip. She's developed a very small (less than a pencil eraser) sized abscess dead center in her bottom lip. It actually looks like she's sticking out her tongue. There's definitely no tooth involvement, it's localized to the center of her bottom lip. It's not outrageously red, just a deep pink shade (and it is on the margin of the hair and lipline) and somewhat swollen. If this was just about anywhere else on her body, I could treat it myself (trim the hair, warm compresses, etc.), but I'm at a loss here. She's totally fine otherwise, eating fine, behavior's normal. In terms of how sore it is, who can tell, you know any cat that likes it's mouth touched? But she doesn't seem to flinch if it's touched. Now what the heck do I do? She's a strictly indoor cat (one of our other cats has an ongoing feud with her, the same b**** split her ear about six months ago) she's never had vaccine one and most of the vets around here won't even see them if you won't give them a rabies shot (how stupid is that???), besides she doesn't need her immune system further compromised with unnecessary vaccines. I've never had experience with an abscess in this location. My question, has anybody ever had something like this happen to them, or ever heard of this? I'd never forgive myself if the thing took a turn for the worse ... this is my furry child. I just wish I could haul her into somebody's office and they could assess it without the b***s***, you know " no worries, that'll clear " or " no, if that isn't lanced it will only progress. " She's young, extremely healthy, eats a very good diet, and I don't trust conventional medicine ... Due to time restrictions, personal responses/opinions would be DEEPLY appreciated, I am: Harriet OneGreyOwl
Guest guest
I was just re-reading Jarvis' Vermont Country DR, He seemed to cure practically every thing in his animals with honey and apple cider vinegar (organically grown apple cider -Braggs) in a water filled bowl of 8 oz, add 1 teaspoon honey one teaspoon vinegar, mix well and see if that might be helpfull...this combo has natural anti bacterial effects...NG - <OneGreyOwl Sunday, August 08, 2004 10:29 AM Cat Question ...
