I will be continuing some consulting work with ASA, and also branching out to do political strategy & action consulting on other issues related to drug reform, democracy, and human rights. (after a little break to do things I've put off the last 2 years, like cleaning out my car and teaching my daughter how to swim!) I want to thank you all for your teachings, work, and inspiration. I have seen so much amazing progress on this issue due to the movement in the last couple of years. I've seen the feds back off the dispensaries, organizations turn their time and resources towards defending medical marijuana patients and caregivers, and an invigorated grassroots expand the anti-drug war movement. I've seen the public approval for medical marijuana rise by almost 10 percent, more media support for a cause than I've ever been privileged, and involvement from across the ideological spectrum. I've seen the most dramatic blow by the Raich/Monson decision to the federal assertion of authority on drug policy. And finally, I've seen Keith Alden walk out of federal prison on appeal based on that ruling. I'm proud to have played what small role I contributed in these positive changes, and have been so impressed by the people I've met who have devoted their political lives to winning these victories. I truly feel the momentum is there for more significant change on these issues, and that more than ever, our reach should exceed our grasp. I look forward to our continued alliances.
