Guest guest
Now I can't get into at all. Opened this new addy. Just letting you know. Thoroughly disgusted is a lot of letters for the thoroughly disgusted to have to type. Just reading the post on diabetes. Great stuff Frank. Thanks for the post. I'm hoping it will help my friend. I know she is " beside herself " with worry, or she wouldn't have called. Her hubby has been in the hospital more than out this year. I did send her several articles from the group pages. Also know I sent stuff on aspartame to her some time back, but it could have been overlooked. I had a fit when I realized I hadn't made her aware!! Thank you so very much for this wonderful forum. Guest guest
Re MaryKaye's computer problem. Sorry to hear about your problems. She is not alone, and by the way, after her message about the Trojan on her computer, I ran my McAffee virus scan and I had one, too. It was removed. (McAffee costs about $40/yr. I'm not sure which program is the best-any ideas?) Here are some tips to think about before you find yourself needing to bail ship. Reformat harddrive She might need to reformat her harddrive. It's not such a big deal after a few times. You just put the CDs provided (or you may have to purchase them-call your computer company) in one by one until everything is redone. Then you have to reinstall the CDs for your printer, scanner, and other programs you have added. Add Ons Make a list of the add-ons you have before you start. It might include reinstalling your free Adaware and Spybot programs to spot spyware, your McAffee Virus protection software (keep your password handy), your Copernic search engine, your camera software, etc. Some of these you reinstall from their website. Others you have the CD from when you bought it. Backing up files regularly I'm just glad I have all of my Alternative Medicine articles and other files backed up monthly on CD. If you can't save them to CD, save them to diskette. You can fit approximately 25 articles/diskette. Favorite's List on Computer Before your reformat your harddrive, save your favorite's list to diskette. The only way I know how to do this is to click on each favorite and then cut and paste it to a Microsoft Word page. Note on links to news pages: I have learned that these links expire, so if you have an article of particular importance you want to save, copy it to Microsoft Word and save it this way or make a paper copy. I like to save articles to Word so I can cut and paste their link to the top of the article. Then I can click on the article to get back to the original page, if it is still available. Copernic Search Engine I love this free search engine because you can save your search on your harddrive for easy access. Links to favorite articles need to be saved to diskette before reformatting your harddrive. Again, the only way I know how to do this is to click on each link and then cut and paste its web address to a Microsoft Word page. I then save this on a diskette. Later, I can insert the diskette and go straight to the article by clicking on the link. It's a bit of a nuisance to have to back up favorites and search links, but think about what you really don't want to lose before you erase them all. I don't know much about computers, but I have learned it's not so bad to just reformat the harddrive and to start over as long as you have your files backed up on CD. I've done it many times. Hope this provides some food for thought.
