VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jul 13, 2004 (CCNMatthews

via COMTEX) -- The Center for Functional Medicine

offers solutions at free introductory session

The Canadian Center for Functional Medicine has

formulated a program called 'Smart Nutrition' to

combat against Attention Deficit Hyperactivity

Disorder (ADHD), a condition that adversely affects

thousands of Canadian youngsters and wreaks havoc on

families and educators. The program is also directed

to those who suffer with other learning and behavioral

problems.

Dr. Michael Lyon, Medical & Research Director at the

Center, says the program is for any parent or

healthcare professional interested in helping children

with ADHD or anyone experiencing health, learning,

psychological and behavioral challenges which may be

diet related.

" Nutrition holds the key to allowing more children to

control their behavior, their learning potential and

their overall health. Introducing some natural

solutions into a child's diet can help feed their

brain and help them to learn healthy principles that

will benefit them for life, " says Dr. Lyon.

The Center is now expanding its 'Smart Nutrition

Program' to a wider audience. It will offer a free

two-hour, public lecture at the main branch of the

Vancouver Public Library in downtown Vancouver on

Thursday, July 15th. The lecture will be held in the

Alice MacKay Room of the library from 7 - 9 p.m.

For lower mainland Vancouver residents interested in

attending the lecture, they should contact the

coordinator at 604-777-5500 or email her at

info. Or, check out the Center's

website at www.functionalmedicine.ca.

The Canadian Center for Functional Medicine, located

in Coquitlam, B.C., is a patient-centered healthcare

facility dedicated to the research and education of

preventative medicine, nutritional medicine and

conventional medicine. Functional medicine is a

science-based field of healthcare that addresses the

underlying biochemical, physiological, environmental

and psychological factors of the individual, so as to

facilitate healing and enhance life-long vitality.
