In fact, organic Lecithin, as far as I've been able to determine, is impossible to find. I have found " non GMO " Lecithin, which I obtain fromiHerb. I certainly would like to know, why we can't get organic Lecithin. We have every other sort of Soy-derived product in organic form, why not Lecithin? JP Hi John! I wish I could answer your question for you. A non-gmo Lecithin usually typifies organic, however it is hard to tell. Unfortunately though, I believe truly organic lecithin is almost non-existant! The irony of it is, that many of our supplements are being perverted by gmo's in one way or another! I have followed this rather closely over the past few years since this is really a cause for concern. Most people just believe, well, its a supplement,...I believe in supplements and its going to be good for me. That may be true, however much of the efficacy of our vitamins are dependent on the purity of their components. You would be surprised if I told you just how many of our vitamins are subject to genetic contamination! If they can't take them away, I believe they are going to ultimately pervert them to the point where we will not be able to obtain the full benefits. I started researching into these vitamins initially because I was maxing out all my credit cards and with seemingly very little improvements to my health. I came to the conclusion that there are very few really reliable supplement companies in my opinion, and most of them have a real problem obtaining pure ingredients. Our food supply is becoming so contaminated that its hard for them to provide pure supplements anymore unless they really know the supplier! The FDA is saying that the supplements are ineffective because they contain less of the necessary nutrients. What they should say is that because they've allowed our food supply to become so contaminated it is almost impossible to ensure the purity and efficacy of supplements! I am aware that many supplement companies tend to add GMO soy protein isolate and other components to their blends as a 'filler'. The ever-popular cholesterol lowering supplement " NATTO " is one example of the way the wool is being pulled over our eyes. I did a search on it just recently and discovered that all of the supplements are made from Genetically engineered Soybeans (which of course is a carefully guarded truth). I wonder just how many people would take it, if they were aware of this! I wouldn't! Also, we are propagating the poisons around the world on the poor unsuspecting Japanese and Orientals. They are unable to meet the demands of their people and as much of their diet is soybean derived they import from the U.S. with our assurances that Biotech foods are the greatest! The prevalence of gmo foods are increasing. I have ceased from buying any type of processed foods, even so-called organic because of this. The food processors are allowed to include a certain percentage of gmo's in their product. For example, if you're engaged in label reading, you will find that while one type of soy is organic and its labeled organic, there are probably one or more ingredients in the mix that are not. It becomes extremely confusing to the newbie. I am suspicious of any and all ready made baked goods, organic or no! I've determined that whatever baked goods I consume will come from a reliable organic grain and other pure ingredients obtained from a reliable producer and with full knowledge of the source of the ingredients! Also, I have found that when obtaining soybeans, the black soybeans are less contaminated than the white. They are available in some stores. You just have to look for them! On another note: Did you know that the body, under normal circumstances provides it's own *lecithin*? When we are giving our bodies all of the raw materials they need to heal, as a rule the diet will provide lecithin in the sufficient quantities. It is only when we put our bodies on overload with dietary excesses and/or harmful medications that we need extra supplements. Normally, whenever we are not in a crisis mode, our bodies really give us everything we need to process existing fats. So as you can see, this component is not derived exclusively from supplements as some people are apt to believe. I've discovered that it is entirely possible to get all the lecithin our bodies need from organic whole foods, that is, if we're eating a whole foods diet rich in beans, greens and whole grains. The phospholipid *lecithin* is actually naturally produced in our liver where it assists in the 'emulsification' of fats. The lecithin we produce makes it possible for the water-soluble enzymes in the duodenum to operate optimally even in the presence of a heavy fat burden. Lecithin plays a very significant role in the metabolism of fats and as you undoubtedly know it also protects against the accumulation of fatty deposits in the arteries. However, as the liver can only produce a limited amount of lecithin per day, the regular consumption of fatty foods, particularly high fat animal proteins, lead to a reduction of lecithin reserves which lays the foundation for diseases such as *arteriosclerosis*. A regular supply of whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, organic whole grains, seeds, raw nuts, beans and legumes ensure that the body's lecithin needs are met. Legumes (non-gmo soybeans, lentils, dried beans) in particular are a more excellent natural source of *lecithin*, however ALL organic whole foods help the body to produce natural " lecithin " and also help to aid in the emulsification of dietary lipids (fats). In whole foods, however, the fats are not in a free form (they still are surrounded by the phospholipid bi-layer), and thus remain water-soluble until acted upon by the lipases in the duodenum. Many BEANS contain *lecithin*, and it is the SAME nutrient found in supplements which reduces artery plaque and any existing cholesterol. PINTO beans contain as MUCH antioxidant " genistein " and " daidzein " as non-gmo soybeans. And others, anasazi beans, black turtle beans, lima beans, red kidney beans, and yellow split peas have even more. Also high in genistein are adzuki beans, black-eyed peas, fava beans, and mung beans. Studies have found that a daily cup and a half of unprocessed beans or lentils (just about the amount in a bowl of bean soup) cuts back " total " cholesterol by a grand total of 19 percent. New research from the Canadian Department of Agriculture finds that dried beans contain antioxidants called *phenols*, which are potent free radical scavengers. Even without the phyto-estrogens or *Cox-2* inhibitors in beans, they provide excellent protection against breast, cervical, colon, liver, skin, and stomach cancer. Medicinal Power of Beans- The black bean contains countless healing substances which are not found in any of the supplements. I will name a few of them here: Beta-sitosterol- , an antiviral plant sterol, protects against breast cancer and leukemia, while inhibiting inflammatory prostagladins. Daidzein- , an antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antiviral, protects against irregular heart rhythm and, as a plant estrogen, may prevent osteoporosis. GABA- fights high blood pressure and stress. Genistein- , another estrogenic isoflavone with antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antiviral properties, prevents abnormal blood clotting and atherosclerosis, while inhibiting osteoporosis and tumor promotion. Phytic acid- prevents abnormal blood clumping and fights cancer. Stigmasterol, a plant sterol, helps protect the liver and prevent cancer. Tryptophan- , an amino acid that produces the " happy " neurotransmitter serotonin, relieves anxiety and helps you sleep. Alpha linolenic acid- , an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, prevents abnormal blood clumping and helps lower blood pressure, while supporting the immune system. Apigenin- , a Cox-2 inhibitor and sunscreen, also protects against cancer and toxins in foods I recommend use of tofu and tempeh containing organically grown soybeans. Guest guest
Great, I have this mix I make and I just added lecithin to it before reading this. It is non GMO though. Now brand makes it. My mix consists of equal parts of lecithin, org. flax seeds, spirulina, kelp, vitamin C, acerola, wheat grass powder, and I mix it with four kinds of fresh sprouts. It tastes like you know what. I guess I'll just eat it and leave out the lecithin from now on. That's too bad and thank you for the information, D.
