Guest guest
The corporate media has hurriedly thrown together a new book to be titled, " Michael Moore is a Fat, Stupid White Man " and is rushing it into book stores in an attempt to stem the flow of right wing blood resulting from Fahrenheit 9/11. They have given up on their efforts to ignore Moore or to casually dismiss him, and now are concentrating on attacking him personally. This morning at 5:00 AM CNN spent a full half hour on Moore, trying desperately to discredit him. DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THEM! At this point we are literally at war with the American power structure and losing what is most certainly the fight of our lives is not an option, but BE PREPARED! The high I got from seeing Fahrenheit 9/11 Friday allowed me a brief, ecstatic one day feeling that there was hope after all. Today I am down again, remembering how the media destroyed Howard Dean in less than two weeks after we had spent a year building a grass roots movement to support him. All it took was two weeks of round the clock showing of a brief out-of-context clip of Dean shouting. A handful of stupid rich white men overruled the millions of regular people who were working their butts off to save our country. Certainly we should be writing letters to the editor (see text below of my most recent one, sent to the Capital, which is the daily paper in Annapolis.) Certainly we should be in the streets, as we were last month when we were a million strong (a million! even by the count of the corporate media, the largest protest march is American history!). And certainly we must register people to vote and get them to the polls. But--and this statement is what brought the FBI to my door last fall--we must be prepared to take direct action. The corporations are using the public airways against us, and we may need to take them back directly. If the million of us in DC had suddenly begun marching in a slightly different direction, they could not have stopped us. We could have taken over Fox News, NBC, AOL-Time-Warner-CNN, and the rest. Yes, they would have quickly responded with armed troops who might have fired on us, but that is most likely coming anyway, so why not at a time of our own choosing? Life as we thought we knew it as children is long gone, stolen by brazen, evil men like Dick Cheney and stupid, spoiled morons like the twit occupying the White House. Sorry for the rant, but I am really worried this morning. Jonathan Inskeep Crofton, MD ---- To the Editor: I can certainly understand any Republican's reluctance to see Michael Moore's documentary movie " Fahrenheit 9/11. " After all, why give money to an anti-war Democrat, especially knowing that it will be used to promote Democratic causes. Yet, how can a Republican effectively argue against the movie without having seen it? So, let me make an offer that I hope you can't refuse. I will personally buy your ticket, and give you a free ride to the movie. I'll even buy you popcorn. Keep in mind that the money I spend out of my own pocket would have otherwise been donated to the Kerry campaign. How can you lose? You get to see the movie for free, without a penny of your money going to Michael Moore. And the money I spend will, in effect, come out of the Kerry campaign. Organize a group of Republicans. I'll pay for all of you. Fair enough? Jonathan Inskeep 2044 Forest Hill Lane Crofton, MD 21114-1850 inskeep
