Please feel free to copy any portion of this letter to send to

Senator Durbin or any other congressional representative - Elliot

Dear Senator Durbin,

I have now received several communications from you regarding the

possible passing of a bill to regulate health supplements.

Senator Durbin, sir, this is the Bottom Line on such a bill or

amendment:

Prescription drugs are manufactured and sold by Big Drug Companies,

some of which have billions of dollars. It has been SOLIDLY

DOCUMENTED in Major Medical Magazines that those pharmaceuticals

REGULARLY KILL thousands and thousands of Americans each

year. Why aren't THOSE companies fined heavily, their products

removed from the market and their CEO's jailed?

For decades, tobacco has KILLED hundreds of thousands of Americans

each year; it CONTINUES to do so!

Yet, come a few incidents, MANY of which do not even have sufficient

evidence to prove them, and you senators are jumping on the band

wagon to " protect " me and my family and other intelligent, college-

educated individuals from ourselves.

Senator Durbin, I and many others believe Big Money and

Big Corporations are telling you to push for such legislation.

Otherwise, why would you be neglecting to do anything about the

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people who are killed by pharmaceuticals and

tobacco each year, yet trying to push through an amendment to

restrict the public's access to supplements, which have not even

conclusively been proven injurious?

I am going to be watching very carefully what happens with regard to

my accessibility to health supplements, and if you are instrumental in

restricting that accessibility, you will not be getting my vote, nor

the votes of a great many other people, and many of us will

actively campaign against you.

Obviously, there is little that is more important to a person than

his health. I and many others I know take it very seriously, and we

want the FREEDOM to CHOOSE how we take care of our health. We

therefore deeply resent any efforts by the Big Drug Companies, which

we believe are represented by you and others, doing anything to

restrict our choices.

Again, the Bottom Line is, Senator Durbin, that pharmaceutical drugs,

which you claim are well-regulated for safety, KILL THOUSANDS of

Americans each and every year. Supplements, compared to them, are not

even a drop in the bucket. The " evidence " you say there is that even

100 people have been injured or killed by ephedra, etc, can

definitely be described as doubtful and even possibly implausible in

many cases. I would like to see you put yourself on the line against

the BIG Killers---the multi-billion-dollar drug companies, the

tobacco companies and even the companies that manufacture alchohol,

sir. THAT's where regulations are needed.

I repeat: If you want to do something for me and other Americans, get

an amendment passed that GUARANTEES us free accessbility to whatever

kind of health products and health care we feel will best serve us

and best keep us healthy. And if you want to save THOUSANDS of lives,

get after the Big Drug Companies and the tobacco companies.

Thank you and best wishes,

XXXXX XXXXXXX
