Dear Representative LaHood,

 

I wrote you just the other day that thousands of Americans die from

prescription drugs each year, while the number who die from taking

supplements can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The latter may

be even less than that. I am forwarding some serious, authoratative

information I hope you will read, because it looks to me as if you

are ill-informed about the " safety " of prescription drugs, and about

the " dangers " of supplements. I am someone who recovered from cancer

by alternative methods, after chemo " therapy " proved quite

ineffective. Here is the information. As I know you are quite busy, I

have taken the liberty of CAPITALIZING the sections I particularly

would like you to read:

 

Here are some concrete numbers on the " killing power " of drugs...

 

DRUG SIDE EFFECTS are the fourth leading cause of death in the

industrialized world. On September 11, 2001, 2,600 innocent people

died in

a terrible tragedy. THE SAME NUMBER OF PEOPLE DIE FROM SIDE EFFECTS

OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS EVERY TEN DAYS.

One in 15 hospital patients in the United States can expect to suffer

from

a prescription or over-the-counter medicine, and about 5 percent of

these

will die as a result!

During 1983-1992, between 90,000 to 110,000 Americans died from

reactions

to prescriptions drugs, 320 from over-the-counter drugs, three from

Doctors and the Drug Industry have jointly killed thousand times more

persons in peace time than all the war-time casualties put together

Poisoned, which records the evil effects of deadly chemicals

destroying our environment, our wildlife and ourselves. And then

there is that all-time famous treatise by Dr. Ivan Illich called The

Medical Nemesis (or Limits to Medicine), which the drug companies

bulk-purchased and burnt.

WE'VE GOT THE EQUIVALENT OF A 747 CRASHING AND BURNING EVERY CALENDAR

DAY OF THE YEAR FROM IATROGENIC SIDE EFFECTS OF IMPROPERLY PRESCRIBED

PHARMACEUTICAL DRUGS. This is documented in the Journal of the

American

Medical Association, which has identified properly prescribed

prescription

drugs as the third-leading cause of death. When Dr. Barbara Starfield

wrote

the article in JAMA, July 26, 2000, she stated that the ioatrogenic

causes

of death in U.S. hospitals averaged 225,000 per year. This means

mistakes

by nurses, doctors and hospital systems. Of that figure, 106,000

deaths per

year were from non-error use of prescribed medications. This was a

decade-long study. The label " third largest cause of death " was for

the

entire system. The non-error use of prescription drugs was roughly

half

that amount. It still means that over 1 million people were poisoned

to

death in the decade of the nineties by the pharma cartel. AT THE SAME

TIME, THERE WAS NOT ONE DEATH FROM NIACIN, CHROMIUM PICOLINATE, L-

ARGININE, L-CARNITINE, VITAMIN C OR ANY OTHER NUTRIENT SOLD AND TAKEN

BY HUMAN BEINGS.

safety measures---in the Big Drug Industry, and let's leave alone

those who are retreating to the safety of alternatives!

 

Again, if you REALLY want to do something to insure the safety of my

family and of millions of other Americans, introduce a congressional

bill that will guarantee alternative medical practioners the right to

practice their own brand of medicine without being persecuted for it,

and that will guarantee my family and millions of others unimpeded

access to health supplements, about which there is absolutely NOTHING

that begins to compare with the dangers of prescription drugs.

Hi, I have been following this site for a long time and have never responded

until now. It would be wonderful if someone could copy this letter the same as

the other petetions and everyone sign it on to their representatives in their

area. I know nothing as to how to operate the computer otherwise I would do it.

It is a great letter and I think we all need to bind together and get the word

out to all government officials so we can be heard on these issues. Thank you
