Dear New Members,

To those new members who have taken psychotropic drugs, please

educate yourselves about what they do to you, what to expect when you

get off and how to get off safely.

Most of the time for those on long term use, the adverse symptoms do

not appear immediately with SSRI type meds. You must taper off very

slowly over time. These drugs cause mental illness and when coming

off they can cause severe mental illness due to the severe

biochemical changes that will occur.

Symtoms can be severe and can progress over many months. The bowel

troubles are because that there are a lot more serotonin receptors in

the intestine than there are in our brains.

Benzos are very addictive, but the person is usually unaware that

they are addicted until they try and get off and then all hell breaks

loose. It can be the most severe withdrawal of any medication or

drug and can last in a prolonged state for years and in some cases

can be permanent.

There are hundreds of articles in our archives about benzodiazapines,

SSRI, and other psychotropics. These drugs cause damage to many areas

of our bodies and brains.

There are links to many resources on our links pages (address at

bottom of messages )about these drugs. Support groups, education

pages, advocacy pages, etc.

regards,

Frank
