The Naive Vegetarian? Lettuce raised in filth?

If you do an internet search under " naive vegetarian, " you will find

a detailed indictment of vegans and vegetarians from Great Britain.

 

In that literature, there is a reference to the filthy conditions

under which commercial lettuce is raised. I have unsuccessfully tried

to find other information on that claim. Can anyone point me to

anything that would corroborate what the report says?

 

I buy organic spring mix, incidentally, so am not too worried about

commercial, inorganically grown lettuce, but would like to know where

the writer got his information.
