Harry,

High Blood pressure is a symptom of problems that are caused when our body's

organs are not functioning properly. Dampness, Wind, Heat, Excess or Def.

Yang or Yin, Stagnation, etc., all contribute to High Blood Pressure. These

conditions can be present in organs such as the Liver the Kidney, spleen as

indicated. Like I mention, TCM uses a combination of herbs in balance to treat

causes of the symptoms associated with HBP.

There are Patent Medicines that have been used for many years to treat the

various causes of HBP. An example is Ci Wu Jia Pian. It's a tablet that

features the herb Ciwujia (Acanthopanax senticosus Harms) at 100%. It will

normalize blood pressure and treat a variety of other ill's such as Def. Vital

Qi,

sexual dysfunction as well as Low Blood Pressure. Another TCM for improving the

function or Clear Liver heat; Settle Excess Liver Yang; Reduce Internal Wind;

/ Primary function of decreasing High Blood Pressure and decrease high

cholesterol levels in the blood. This Tablet is called Jiang Ya Ping Pian or

decrease pressure and normalize tablets. It is composed of Xia Ku Cao (Spica

Prunelllae Vulgaris), Huang Qin (Scutellarie Baicalensis), Di Long (Lumbricus),

Ju

Hua (Flos Chrysanthemi Morifolii), Huai Hua (Flos Sophorae Japonicae Immaturus).

Note: these are all balanced in the patent formula. For Liver heat the Long

Dan Xie Gan Wan pills might be useful for a variety of applications as well

as hypertension. For def. Kidney Yang and lowering blood pressure a product

call Du Zhong Pian in tablet form might be helpful. The main ingredient is Du

Zhong (Cortex Eucommiae) which is a bark from the tree of the same name.

There are other treatments not mentioned. As I said earlier one would have

to look into the way TCM view disease and treatment in order to understand the

causes of illness. A good book to read and I recommend is called: A Manual OF

Chinese Herbal Medicine Principles & Practices for easy reference by Warner

J-W. Fan, M.D. 1996 , Shambhala Publications, Inc. Horticultural Hall 300

Massachusetts Avenue, Boston Mass. 02115. I would check out a TCM pharmacy in

your area and speak to an herbalist for info and recommendation of Patent

formulas for your condition. What I tried to do while listing all of the

formulas

was illustrate that there are a verity of TCM Patent treatments but one would

have to fist figure out the cause. A professional TCM practitioner can check

your Tung, pulse, eyes, skin and many other techniques to narrow down to

specific cause. This, I strongly recommend before using patent medicines. Note

these are powerful herbs!

Good luck and do keep us posted on you progress.
