" Do you mean that the same results claimed for aspirin, are achieved with these herbs, such as prevention of blood clots? Drug companies selling aspirin, are also claiming various anti-cancer benefits, etc. You're not suggesting that the herbs mentioned here, also have these additional effects, are you? JP Hi JP, Salicin is present in many plants and is the precursor to salicylic acid which Bayer Pharmaceutical added an acetal group to and proceeded to destroy many stomach linings. Aspirin is a pharmaceutical toxin. The positive benefits of aspirin do not outweigh the negative side effects from my perspective. I'll take natural salicin before I will ever take another aspirin. As for aspirin have anti-cancer benefits, I am sorry but I just don't believe this one. This is more pharmaceutical propaganda, of which they are very good at. Scientific studies for proof? NOT!!! All scientific studies done by pharmaceutical companies are done for the benefit of, you guessed it, pharmaceutical companies. Anyone can make a scientific study turn out anyway they desire. There are much more natural and safer ways of doing what aspirin does without the negative side effects. Eat more garlic and ginger and use cayenne in your diet to keep your blood from clotting, stabilize your circualtion and help your heart all at the same time. Use Hawthorne berries as well as, lecithin and make sure you get plenty of GLA (gamma linoleic acid). All of these will keep your blood from coagulating at the wrong time. Will help prevent strokes and chronic heart and circulation problems. Eat more blueberries or berries in general for vascular elasticity. Change the diet and lifestyle to be more in line with mother nature and you will experience much greater health and vitality. Granted herbs and natural healing may be slower but they are more in line with natures healing. Mainstream medicine only works by handling symptoms and not cause. Natural methods handle cause and subsequently symptoms. I'll take salicin any day for any problem needing aspirin. But then, I would much rather prefer to change my diet and lifestyle so that I don't have the problems to deal with in the first place. Anyhow, this is my two cents or twenty five cents or whatever worth on this subject. Peace, love and light, Don ---
