Guest guest
Dear Elliot, I agree, but I also think that at this time it is very difficult for the average consumer and especially one who is now trying to start " eating healthy " . Never has there been such a huge assortment of products to choose from in the supermarkets but the problem is that most of them are not good for us. I hear it time and time again here, " with everything wrong with this or that, what is there left to eat " . And it is the truth. One by one all of the products are being ruined by large agrobusiness or some other industry. The milk, the beef, the seafoods, water, etc. If this keeps going pretty soon we will be down to eating air through an industrial mask. The doctoryourself.com website does cover this area too. It is getting tougher to eat healthy. I know that I am having trouble in that area also. We have to do something as a people to counter that or our sons, daughters, grandchildren etc. are pretty much doomed. First they will industrialize and monopolize the USA food supply and then they will try to take the rest of the world too. Paranoia? who is paranoid? Guest guest
Frank, It may be that the billionaire industrialists are spoiling and polluting all they touch. But I know there is a tremendous difference still between eating oatmeal for breakfast versus " pop-tarts, between eating a great big many variety salad for lunch versus micro-waved Kraft macaroni and cheese and eating wild salmon, sweet potato and salad for diner versus hot dogs and baked beans with micro- waved " tater tots. " Though it is appalling and disgusting to see the constantly increasing trash(non-foods/pseudo-foods) being sold in supermarkets, there are still plenty of choices out there, and differences that are quite plain, such as the ones I have pointed out. I agree that it is not easy for the average Joe or Jane to get educated and to learn to make right decisions. The great majority of them first have to be inclined to do so, generally from becoming seriously ill. But even of those who become seriously ill, the majority of those will find it easier to just put themselves in the hands of the doctors, the hospitals and the insurance companies. I just recently posted about the father of my wife's friend who allowed the surgeons to cut off pieces of his intestine till he doesn't have enough intestine left to digest anything... But for those who do know healthful from unhealthful, there are still plenty of choices out there. Best wishes, Elliot , " califpacific " <califpacific> wrote: > Dear Elliot, > > I agree, but I also think that at this time it is very difficult for > the average consumer and especially one who is now trying to > start " eating healthy " . > > Never has there been such a huge assortment of products to choose > from in the supermarkets but the problem is that most of them are not > good for us. > > I hear it time and time again here, " with everything wrong with this > or that, what is there left to eat " . Guest guest
Thing of it is, freezing aint all that good for food. Dehydrating might be good for some stuff. My wife and I have tried find the best ways to preserve fruits and vegetables, and it ain't easy. We frozed a whole buncha green beans last year, and after a whilst, they weren't none too appetizing. Froze some peaches, and they got unuseable right quick---freezer taste you know... > Dear Frank > > you said > It is getting tougher to eat healthy > > > Boy is this true. > My husband and I am trying to improve this problem by growing a garden. This > year it will be on the small side next year we will get enough food to start > freezing it. > > Kathy
