Guest guest
Hello Val, 12 years ago I went to see a nutritionist and I explained how I find it hard to relax ... apart from all the vitamins & minerals I had to purchase she advised me to cut all sugar from my diet - including honey, jelly etc., I know live on a diabetic diet, i.e low glycemic and I eat mainly wholefoods including meat. I have a blood sugar monitor so I can check to see how different foods affect my sugar level and after say 3 days of keeping my blood sugar very low (and even) I'm so relaxed and laid back its unreal - almost as if I was on valium (Diazepam) I weigh 168 pounds @12ft tall so my weight is kept in check as well. When I was young (I'm 52) I would have been diagnosed ADD/ADHD/Asperger - if they were around then, but I did live mainly on high sugar 'food' white bread - the lot ! Ray. - " Valerie " <moktah Saturday, May 08, 2004 3:55 PM Low Glycemic Hi I just had to share this with all of you. I started eating a mostly Low GI diet 2 weeks ago, and included my kids it. My energy levels are higher than they have been in 10 years (when I fell pregnant with my first child), my mind is much clearer and i am able to focus and handle stress better and i have lost 2.5 kgs without even exercising. My children have also benefited from this... my son, who has mild ADD, has become a totally different boy, going from one who struggled to focus at the best of times who was often unreasonable, to one who is more co-operative and helpful and much more settled. My daughter's school work has improved, she has is also a lot calmer and more co-operative. I definitely recommend this diet to everyone. I'm also interested in hearing from others who have made the switch to a low GI diet and how it has changed your life. I look forward to reading all replies. Val. Please pass this message or article on to someone else so that they may learn also.
Guest guest
Hi Ray Thanks for the reply, it was great hearing from you. I'm thinking about investing in a blood glucose monitor myself so that i can see for myself how different foods affect my BGL's. I'm not diabetic, but it certainly would be an interested experiment.
