Following your posting I did a further search.

The webbing clothes moth Tineola bisselliella is one of the most

destructive pest insects of natural fabrics and of major economic

importance in drapery shops, rug stores, museums, and households. Modern

insecticides for controlling the webbing clothes moth focus more on natural

plant ingredients because these are less persistent in the environment and

when applied in low concentrations show a repellent effect on insects with

little or no side effects on humans or pets. Two commercially available

moth repellents, containing natural ingredients of oil of cloves and

citronellol, scented with oil of lavender were tested for their potential

to repel adult clothes moths and prevent infestation of woolen material. It

was found that both products showed promising effects and successfully

repelled the moths for 4 weeks but efficacy was never 100%. The question

arises whether an incomplete repellency is acceptable from the consumer's

view since even a little frass damage in valuable weavings is intolerable.

However, it is believed that the application of natural repellents in

combination with preventive cleaning is an important, effective, and most

of all safe alternative to conventional synthetic insecticides especially

in places of human habitation. Therefore, private households, stores, and

museums will benefit most from the research results. (537 RUSSELL LAB-

Re: Clothes Moths

Buy whole cloves in bulk and place them all through your closet and drawers

of woolens.

Best wishes,
