Dear Group,

 

I just wanted to tell everyone that we have passed 20,000

articles/messages in the group archives.

 

I would like to thank all of you who have posted articles so that

when any in the group need to research something they can find a lot

of good information all in one place.

 

To those who have not used the archives, I invite you to go there and

research whatever you would like. Just enter the search terms that

you are loooking up.

 

Also don't overlook the links page for research or just general self-

education. I have listed many good noncommercial websites that will

give you a wealth of information on alternative health and healing.

 

Also, you can go to our message boards where there are a few thousand

articles divided into different areas of interest. To those posting

articles to this group, I would like to ask you to also post them to

the message boards. The message boards receive more traffic than this

group does as it is more readily found by search engines than we are

here.

And a big " thank you! " to Frank for all of his hard work! (as well as

JoAnn and others too, of course!)

 

The links page is amazing - each site has a short summary and it's a great

starting point for more research. I highly second Frank's recommendation

to look at it.

 

Unfortunately the archives only allow searching in batches of 75

messages at a time. But I've got a way to get around it. There was a new

version of the 2mbox script released and I started running it today.

It's a special script that basically views each message via the web and

converts it back to an email message. Within about 7 days I will have all

20000 messages in one or two 'mbox' standard email file format. This will

allow you to search all the messages in your own email program - very

fast!

 

(Nerdy technical stuff: places a limit on the amount of email

that you view per hour, and if you exceed it, it cuts you off for 3 hours.

That's why it takes a week to download all 20000 messages, otherwise it

would be done in a matter of hours. The uncompressed size of the mail

archive of twenty thousand messages will be approximately 80MB, and

compressed about 25MB)
