Guest guest
Hello group...My name is Stacy. I was wondering if anyone else has a similar problem with their thyroid as I do, or knows what I might be going through. I have a large nodule on the right side of my thyroid. Left side is perfect according to the sonogram. The nodule is about 4.5 x 2.5 x 2.4 cm. Pretty good size. I went for a Radioactive iodine uptake and the nodule at 24 hours had soaked up 70% of the iodine. The Doctor at the time classified it as an overactive " Hot " nodule. I had 2 sonograms done. 6 months apart hoping for some change. The nodule has some calcifications and is still the same size. Has not grown over the 6 months. I am going in a few weeks for a 3rd opinion. Does this sound like cancer? I have not had a fine needle biopsy yet. Maybe this new Doctor will want me to have one. Do they normally remove a nodule this big or treat it with meds. Neither Doctor gave me meds before. First Doctor wanted to cut it out right away without any testing at all. Second one wanted me to kill the whole thyroid with Radioactive Iodine in hopes it would shrink. Wasn't happy with either Dr. Anyone out there have any thoughts on this? I sure would appreciate your help. I'm sure you all know more than me and can help. Thanks so much...Stacy
