has anyone ever heard of skin reactions from flourescent lights?

I have been doing demos ( samples) in walmarts for about 6 months and every time I spend the day at walmart I come home with my face feeling crispy like Ive been riding my motorcycle in the sun all day, and the skin is dry and peely too.

if not the lights what could it be that Im exposed to at walmart?

Fluorescent lights were very hard on my daughter when she had

multichemical sensitivity and electromagnetic sensitivity. I don't

recall that she had skin problems relating to the lights, just know

she would not spend any time around them, because of how severely they

affected her. What kind of demo are you doing? Might it relate to that?

the demos are different every time so it cant be that. ( have been such

things as steak fingers, biscuits, pop tarts, sub sandwiches, apples,

sometimes disinfectant wipes and cleaners, but usually food items)

I am in two different walmarts in two different towns too.

my face is red and burning when I get home at the end of the day every time!

now I AM sensitive to chemicals ...(most likely lingering effects of

formaldehyde poisoning from drinking diet soda for about a year 20 years

ago) allergic to wool, cigarette smoke, and have allergic rhinitis (

glorified hay fever all year long).

I use loads of sun screen when outdoors because I HAVE had some sun damage

spots removed from my face. Am wondering if I need to worry about the light

spectrum from fluorescent lights.

I never noticed the problem to this extent until I began spending 5-6 hr

shifts in walmart.

Joseph,

Where do you recommend buying full spectrum lighting? Do I need

to buy a special lamp that's full spectrum or can a person buy a bulb

for a lamp? I have had issues healing after a cardiac bypass and have

been feeling depressed also with the pain and the fact that it is winter

here. I'm thinking that would help, in addition to the supplements I'm

taking.

Lor

To my knowledge, many people are sensitive to artificial lighting. I always recommend they use full spectrum lighting, especially when reading, also available in florescent. Sometimes called grow lights. Plants are as sensitive as we are and don't like certain kinds of lighting. --and music too. another subject But that is for home where you CAN control your environment. If you are sensitive - think of your children. What are we producing. Weak bodied sensitive children with more drug related problems. They keep saying "a few have reported side affects of this or that" --Really, that should be an indicator that NO ONE should take some drug. Sorry off point.

Anyway. it may cost more in home lighting to get full spectrum but is worth it ifyou can afford it. What the fast food or fast commercial world offers is unfortunately for money and greed and not for personal health. [gees, even the Reeve's could have been saved if they had known to go to the right people, instead they depended and believed the mass media doctors and chemical murderers. Just my opinion. I am sorry his widow died yesterday from a curable illness, it is truly depressing.] Money can buy you a lot but not common sense...

Hi there,

You are sure right on the head about bills and finances with this debt and how

to pay the bills when you're not working. I hear you on the fed debt notes...I'm

very aware of the fact that none of its' real..and not true debt, figures on books.

We're living in a very fictious world and have to strive to find our own reality and

some measure of peace.

I will check out Home Depot then also..probably have an even better selection.

Thanks for all your help!

You should be able to buy full spectrum lighting at any Fred Myer or Home Depo stores. Your depression is probably involved in money or lack of it and bills. Just give yourself a boost and learn that there is no money - only fed debt notes. You cannot PAY any debt and they use that against you. But you need to study it and understand that life is precious. I know - I am sometimes there. I have no answers except to know that this great outdoors is not of this stupid fiction government we are controlled with.

Anyway most full spectrum light bulbs fit into what ever you have.

Perhaps it would be good to seek out a Natural Healing practitioner to

clear your allergies. It may be an allergy to the lights or something

of that sort, or even an electromagnetic field sensitivity. My

daughter's allergies and EMF sensitivity were cleared using NH very

quickly. You need to be sure you are drinking a lot of water to have

it work and maintain though - a quart per 50 pounds of body weight

plus at least 1 or 2 more quarts every day. There is a referral list

for NH at http://nhseminars.com/referral_list.htm - it is a world-wide

network.

no I havent read that book... I will have to look it up and try to acquire

it!

well Im actually glad to know that Im not hallucinating the problem.

I doubt very much if Walmart is going to be willing to turn off lights for

me however..lol

do you know if there is any danger from it?

if not I guess I can deal with the minor discomfort since the redness and

crispy sensation appears to be only a temporary reaction, since I dont get

that much work at that job anyway.

Be careful what WATER you drink and look up the herb that can detox you. Fast foods and diet sodas will kill you. Do you have a reason to live? If so, stop killing yourself. FIND and UNDERSTAND a good diet. Your immune system is or has closed down. Stop being a victim and look it up and change your life. No disrespect intended. Look up immune system and then look up Dr day.Kat <js_kat wrote: , "SHARON JAGGER" <sharonjagger wrote: > > the demos are different every time so it cant be that. These fluorescent lights have an asynchronic flicker, and Dr. John Diamond

clearly shows that the brain has a problem handling it. In labs with these

lights, the results of tests get all 'screwed up.'

Are they all fluorescent, or are there any " halide lamps " ?

Teachers burned by UV light from cracked halide lamp

Source: Canadian Occupational Health and Safety News

September 13, 2004 - Moosomin, Sask (Canadian OH & S News)- The first day of

school was delayed for Moosomin, Sask-area teachers and students when

teachers reported sunburn-like symptoms after attending a back-to-school

meeting in the McNaughton High School gymnasium.

About 90 teachers from five schools attended the all-day meeting. That

evening, 26 teachers, who had been sitting together in a small section of

the gym, reported painful rashes, burns, eye irritation and facial swelling.

Twenty-two sought medical attention, and six were kept in hospital overnight

for observation, says Department of abour spokesman Dallas McQuarrie.

Classes at McNaughton and MacLeod Elementary, which were scheduled to start

September 1, were cancelled pending a health and safety investigation to

determine the source of irritation.

Occupational hygienists from the Department of Labour tested air and dust

samples when the incident occurred on August 31. But the irritant remained

unknown until a maintenance person, who was replacing a metal halide light

in the gym, noticed a crack in its outer shell. " One of the lights seemed

to be burning at a different colour than the others, so when he changed the

light, he noticed the envelope was cracked, " says Harold Laich, director of

education for Moosomin School District.

McQuarrie says the teachers suffered various degrees of sunburn due to a

leakage of UV radiation from the light bulb, comparable to a burn

experienced by sitting all day in the sun. The Labour department plans to

issue a hazard alert on these bulbs, warning employers of potential UV

exposure risks.

In the mean time, Laich says all metal halide lamps at Moosomin District 9

schools have been checked, and will be replaced with safety lamps designed

to automatically extinguish the arch tube when the outer envelope is

cracked.

The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety says whether

occurring naturally from the sun, or artificially from sources like mercury

lamps and welding equipment, UV rays can be hazardous depending on the

wavelength, intensity and duration of exposure.

Hi Sharon!

Although unusual, you're not the only one to have this reaction to

florescent lighting. I had a friend who every time she was exposed to

florescent lighting, broke out in a red rash all over her nose (especially),

but her forehead and cheeks as well. She would usually try and make a tent

cover of paper to hold over her nose and cheeks, if she were forced to

remain under those lights for more than a couple minutes at a time.

Sometimes, if there were lots of windows and good natural lighting, she'd

ask if they would just turn off the artificial lighting, and make due with

natural lighting... Most of the time (at church), they were willing to make

concessions to make her comfortable.

Have you ever read Dr. John Ott's work with lighting spectrums? It's

fascinating!!

| I am in two different walmarts in two different towns too.<snip>

| I use loads of sun screen when outdoors because I HAVE had some sun damage

| I never noticed the problem to this extent until I began spending 5-6 hr
