Guest guest
http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=7936 Monday, February 20, 2006 - FreeMarketNews.comNEWS RELEASEIn a tactic so low as to defy belief, The New York Times has recently published and nationally syndicated an article by one of its reporters which appears to discredit a newly released book without even mentioning the book or its author's name, thus denying any possibility of rebuttal; and also of picking a deceptively similar name to the book itself for their story's headline title. On January 31, 2005 James P. Hilton a former paramedic educator and freelance author e-mailed out a press release to dozens of New York City area and national news media announcing the launch of his book, Question Authority: How to Improve Your Odds of Surviving an Infectious Disease Epidemic, a Biological Attack, or Radiation Exposure. In the book Hilton claims doctors and the government have been deliberately withholding useful information on natural remedies that could prove protective for millions of Americans in the event of a flu epidemic or a biological / radiological attack. On February 3, 2006, four days later, a story appeared, by Times reporter Benedict Carey entitled, "Resisting Authority: When Trust in Doctors Erodes, Other Treatments Fill the Void." The item picked up by dozens of publications around the country, ridicules people seeking out alternative remedies and unmistakenly attempts to shoot down Mr. Hilton's thesis by referring to wealthy "snake oil salesmen" and citing the "huge danger here with regard to infectious disease ... if people are headed for the naturopathic remedy aisle rather than getting vaccinated." According to Mr. Hilton, The Times is running scared. "It's blatantly obvious The New York Times, and more specifically, their cashed up drug company advertisers wouldn't approve of my book, Question Authority, and its overriding theme; namely that these groups are corrupt and untrustworthy. So they sent in a hack stooge reporter who wasn't even bright enough to title his propaganda piece with a name substantially different from my book. "Resisting Authority? Give me a break," he said.
