Well gal, it looks like you win the lotto after all. Ina all the years I have read about Essiac tea I have never run across the extra four herbs you mentioned as part of the original formula but thanks to Barb's contribution of http://essiac-info.org/recipe1.html , one of the links led me to this.

http://essiac-info.org/lecture.html#consider

Around 1926, Rene started eliminating the extra herbs of the original eight-herb recipe (red clover went first because of the protein content). She reduced the formula to her four Essiac herbs and thereafter, the only herb Rene Caisse always harvested herself was Sheep sorrel, buying the other herbs whenever possible. Rene dried the Sheep sorrel on the floor of her house.

Good going for sticking to your guns but it does appear that it was Rene herself that eliminated the extra four herbs from the original recipe.

My hat's off to you Kat for your perseverance,

Harvey

Re: Re: Essiac Tea

I beg to differ. Essiac Tea did NOT have 8 ingredients originally. Those last 4 have been added a long with stabilizers. It is always better to make it yourself with organic herbs, dark bottles, and stainless steel pots. The process takes about 24 or more hours to do correctly. I did one of the original booklets on the subject back in the 80's. There were only 4 then?!I am not saying the other 4 herbs are bad - they may indeed be good but they were not in the original recipe. Personally, I am always leary of story bought commercially made bottled cures. No wonder they don't work. No offense intended. Just not my experience.Kat <js_kat wrote: , "HAH" <GaiaHemp@e...> wrote:>> Hi,> > Is it ok to purchase Essiac Tea in powder form from Now or liquid from> http://www.iherb.com/essiac4.html> or should i make it myself?> > thanks,> > love*light,> Hempress>If I were you I would buy the Flor Essence rather than another brandof Essiac - it is the only one I know of that has the 8 originalingredients of Essiac, rather than just four. Any Essiac tea you buybe sure it has all eight - Burdock Root, Sheep Sorrel, Slipper Elm,Turkish Rhubarb, Red Clover, Blessed Thistle, Kelp and Watercress. And you can make it yourself from those herbs if you wish to as well.Kat
