Guest guest
In the last post I wrote that it would cost $ 1,00,000 (Rs, 45 lacs) to map one's genes. But I went to the article in Scientific American again and found that this is the projected figure. The real cost today is $ 20 million (Rs. 90 crores). Oooops!!! Now this cost is just for mapping. Identification of disease and treatment is not included. Nobody knows what that would cost. Also it is written that a 0.01% mistake could result in 6,00,000 errors. And then there is the challenge of study of long term after effects of such a therapy. No wonder scientists have condemned experiments in this field. Regards, Jagannath.
