Guest guest
Wanted to share this with you: Janice. Dear Janice: Thank you for writing to us about banning pesticides in Canada. Environmental protection is a key priority for the NDP. In fact, ever since Jack’s days as a city councillor in Toronto he has actively worked to reduce the use of pesticides because what you don’t know can indeed hurt you. We believe the federal government should support municipalities in legal battles with chemical corporations after attempting to limit pesticide use in their community. During the last election we pushed for supporting farmers as they try to reduce their dependence on pesticides and antibiotics. Ultimately we want to work toward sustainable and environmentally safe agriculture practices. In addition, in the previous parliament fellow NDP MP Pat Martin pushed for the federal government to institute a nation-wide moratorium on the use of pesticides and herbicides for cosmetic and recreational purposes. Once again, thank you for taking the time to write me. Please be assured that the NDP is committed to protecting the environment. Best wishes for the New Year. As with all federal elections, the volume of correspondence is tremendous and the pace of policy announcements and developments can be frenzied. As such, we encourage you to visit www.ndp.ca on a regular basis throughout this campaign to view our latest policy announcements and news releases, and to sign up for the E-NDP newsletter.
