The Dangers of Low Blood Cholesterol Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill The idea that too much animal fat and a high cholesterol is dangerous to your heart and vessels is nothing but a myth. Here are some astonishing and frightening facts. Cholesterol is not a deadly poison, but a substance vital to the cells of all mammals. There are no such things as good or bad cholesterol, but mental stress, physical activity and change of body weight may influence the level of blood cholesterol. A high cholesterol is not dangerous by itself, but may reflect an unhealthy condition, or it may be totally innocent. Your body produces three to four times more cholesterol than you eat. The production of cholesterol increases when you eat little cholesterol and decreases when you eat much. This explains why the ”prudent” diet cannot lower cholesterol more than on average a few per cent. The reason why laymen, doctors and most scientists have been misled is because opposing and disagreeing results are systematically ignored or misquoted in the scientific press. Good fats are the naturally-occurring, traditional fats that haven't been damaged by high heat, refining, processing or other man-made tampering such as 'partial hydrogenation'. Many studies have demonstrated a very close association between consumption of unsaturated oils and the incidence of cancer. Please wait... THE CHOLESTEROL MYTH Dr. Barry Groves, Ph.D. Over the past couple of decades there has been a growing concern about fats and cholesterol. Dieticians, nutritionists and doctors have been telling us that fat is a killer. Apart from those with a very rare disease, has cholesterol got anything to do with heart disease - or any other disease? And even if it has, will a change of diet be beneficial? Like all debates, this one about cholesterol has two sides. The Cholesterol Myth explores the evidence on which present healthy eating' dietary recommendations are based. Because of the propaganda, you can be forgiven for thinking that cholesterol is a harmful alien substance that should be avoided at all costs. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Cholesterol is an essential component in the body. It is found in all the cells of the body, particularly in the brain and nerve cells. Body cells are continually dying and new ones being made. Cholesterol is a major building block from which cell walls are made. Cholesterol is also used to make a number of other important substances: hormones (including the sex hormones), bile acids and, in conjunction with sunlight on the skin, vitamin D 3 . The body uses large quantities of cholesterol every day and the substance is so important that, with the exception of brain cells, every body cell has the ability to make it. Cholesterol may be ingested in animal products, but less than twenty percent of your body's cholesterol needs will be supplied in this way. Your body then makes up the difference. If you eat less cholesterol, your body merely compensates by making more. Although the media and food companies still warn against cholesterol in diet, it has been repeatedly demonstrated that the level of cholesterol in your blood is affected very little by the amount of cholesterol you eat. learn more The Dangers of Low Blood Cholesterol A large study in Japan, covering two decades, which concluded that low levels of blood cholesterol also increase the incidence of stroke. FATS, CHOLESTEROL AND HEART DISEASE "Lowering serum cholesterol concentrations does not reduce mortality and is unlikely to prevent coronary heart disease. Batmanghelidj, M.D. - "We in the medical profession, totally oblivious of the vital roles of cholesterol in the body, have been duped into thinking that it is this substance that causes arterial disease of the heart and the brain. The pharmaceutical industry has capitalized on the slogan of bad cholesterol and has produced toxic-to-the-body chemicals that minimally lower the level of cholesterol in the body and in the process cause liver damage to thousands of people, some who die as a result of using the medication." Bad Cholesterol: A Myth and a Fraud! Uffe Ravnskov, MD, PhD - "The idea that too much animal fat and a high cholesterol is dangerous to your heart and vessels is nothing but a myth." Here are some astonishing and frightening facts. "To produce healthy hormones in your body you need cholesterol. Listening to the foolishness of keeping your cholesterol low by always eating low fat, low cholesterol foods all the time, will lead to premature aging, more depression, more overweight problems, more anxiety, more cancer, more heart disease, etc. Then the pharmaceuticals will sell you synthetic estrogen, DHEA, testosterone, cholesterol lowering drugs, Prozac, Xanax, Valium, etc. ALL OF WHICH encourage disease in your body. Then they will sell you chemo and radiation. And then they will say 'we have nothing else to offer you.' The question is, did they ever?" Timothy Long Butter is a healthyfat. Read The Case for Butter Myths And Truths about other Fats Bad Cholesterol: A Myth and a Fraud! Killer Fats Good fats are the naturally-occurring, traditional fats that haven't been damaged by high heat, refining, processing or other man-made tampering such as 'partial hydrogenation'. Many studies have demonstrated a very close association between consumption of unsaturated oils and the incidence of cancer. Hydrogenated Oils - Silent Killers; The Margarine Hoax Hydrogenated oils and trans fatty acids are silent killers. Research studies show conclusively that they cause non-insulin dependent type II diabetes, or hyperinsulinemia. This is a disease which can eventually burn out the pancreas and cause insulin dependent diabetes. These changed molecular oils dramatically increase the risk of coronary heart disease, breast cancer, other types of cancers and auto immune diseases. Over 100 research studies show how harmful these oils are to the human body. However, these findings have been largely ignored by the mass media and the FDA. In addition, the Commercial Edible Food Industry has suppressed these research findings for sometime. Why? Money and lots of it! Food processing companies and the companies that own the patents on this process would lose billions of dollars if they had to change their method of food production of hydrogenating oils. The main reason oils are hydrogenated is that the hydrogenation of the oils act as a preservative. This leads to increased shelf life of products and less returns or spoilage of products. But at what cost is it to the human body? Natural remedies for diabetes Natural Remedies for Pancreas Disorder LAWSUIT FILED IN FEDERAL COURT - 5-1-2003 - A lawsuit has been filed in Federal Court against a major food company to halt the sales and marketing of foods containing hydrogenated oils. Finally steps are being taken to take these deadly oils out of foods. Dane A. Roubos, D.C - "Another 'side-effect' of hydrogenation is that a residue of toxic metals, usually nickel and aluminium, is left behind in the finished product. These metals are used as catalysts in the reaction, but they accumulate in our cells and nervous system where they poison enzyme systems and alter cellular functions, endangering health and causing a wide variety of problems. These toxic metals are difficult to eliminate without special detoxification techniques, and our 'toxic load' increases steadily with small exposures over time. Since they are increasingly found in our air, food and water, the cumulative doses can add up to dangerous levels over time. Since trans- fats don't occur in nature, our bodies don't know how to deal with them effectively and they act as poisons to crucial cellular reactions. The body tries to use them as it would the cis- form, and they wind up in cell membranes and other places they shouldn't be. " Leo Galland, M.D. with Dian Dincin Buchman, Ph.D. - "Unfortunately, many of the popular oils used today are nonessential fats and many are hydrogenated. Hydrogenation is a manufacturing process which converts unsaturated fats into saturated fats to prolong shelf life. Read the labels of foods you buy in the grocery store. Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are found in margarine, shortening, commercial baked goods and processed foods. Partial hydrogenation physically alters any EFAs (essential fatty acids) in the oil which creates artificial fatty acids. Dr. Galland states that "These artificial fatty acids are not only unnatural and unnecessary, they can have a disastrous effect on your child's body's ability to use EFAs." Health Risks from Processed Foods and Trans Fats In this fascinating discussion nutritional expert Mary Enig, Ph.D. is interviewed by Dr. Richard A. Passwater concerning the harm caused by partially hydrogenated fats that are present in processed foods. Beware of canola oil "Canola oil comes from the rape seed, which is part of the mustard family of plants. Rape is the most toxic of all food-oil plants. Like soy, rape is a weed. Insects will not eat it; it is deadly poisonous! The oil from the rape seed is a hundred times more toxic than soy oil." Beware of heated oils Heat processed oils are toxic. Make sure to always get COLD PRESSED oils. (With olive oil make sure its also "extra virgin") Always keep your oils sealed and refrigerated. Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill : The Complete Guide to Fats, Oils, Cholesterol and Human Health by Udo Erasmus Udo Erasmus' in-depth look at the oil industry and the processes that turn healing fats into killing fats is unequaled. Learning about these processes is essential to understanding why we must make certain food choices to prevent and even reverse degenerative diseases including heart disease, cancer and diabetes. In "Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill," Erasmus has far surpassed his original best-selling work, "Fats & Oils." From the way our bodies assimilate fats and oils to the politics of health, Erasmus shies away from nothing. Myths And Truths about Fats excerpt from the Weston Price Foundation Myth: Heart disease in America is caused by consumption of cholesterol and saturated fat from animal products. Truth: During the period of rapid increase in heart disease (1920-1960), American consumption of animal fats declined but consumption of hydrogenated and industrially processed vegetable fats increased dramatically. (USDA-HNI) Myth: For good health, serum cholesterol should be less than 180 mg/dl. Truth: The all-cause death rate is higher in individuals with cholesterol levels lower than 180 mg/dl. (Circulation 1992 86:3:1026-1029) Myth: Animal fats cause cancer and heart disease. Truth: Animal fats contain many nutrients that protect against cancer and heart disease; elevated rates of cancer and heart disease are associated with consumption of large amounts of vegetable oils. (Fed Proc July 1978 37:2215) Myth: Children benefit from a low-fat diet. Truth: Children on low-fat diets suffer from growth problems, failure to thrive & learning disabilities. (Food Chem News 10/3/94) Myth: A low-fat diet will make you “feel better . . . and increase your joy of living.” Truth: Low-fat diets are associated with increased rates of depression, psychological problems, fatigue, violence and suicide. (Lancet 3/21/92 v339) Myth: Americans do not consume enough essential fatty acids. Truth: Americans consume far too much of one kind of EFA (omega-6 EFAs found in most polyunsaturated vegetable oils) but not enough of another kind of EFA (omega-3 EFAs found in fish, fish oils, eggs from properly fed chickens, dark green vegetables and herbs, and oils from certain seeds such as flax and chia, nuts such as walnuts and in small amounts in all whole grains.) (Am J Clin Nutr 1991 54:438-63) Myth: To avoid heart disease, we should use margarine instead of butter. Truth: Margarine eaters have twice the rate of heart disease as butter eaters. (Nutrition Week 3/22/91 21:12) Butter is a healthy fat. Read The Case for Butter Healer Fats & Oils (The Good Guys ) The Healing Power of Borage Oil Borage has been used in connection with the following conditions: Eczema, Infantile seborrheic dermatitis, Rheumatoid arthritis Borage oil, extracted from the seed of the blue, star shaped borage flower, is gaining much attention by alternative health practitioners and mainstream medicine alike for its profound medicinal properties. Whereas the oil is getting all of the credit, it is actually the oil's active component, gamma linoleic acid (GLA), that has drawn the interest of researchers. The majority of the early studies done on GLA, dating back to the late 1940's, were conducted with the oil of evening primrose. Active constituents: Borage seed oil is the richest source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA) and contains 20–26% GLA. While GLA from evening primrose oil has been widely researched, scientific evidence supporting the use of borage oil has been limited. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis who received either 1.4 grams of GLA daily from borage oil or placebo for twenty-four weeks experienced significant reductions in such symptoms as tender and swollen joints after utilizing the oil.3 Borage oil has also been employed for atopic dermatitis (eczema) in open clinical trials, with reductions in skin inflammation, dryness, scaliness, and itch without side effects being reported.4 However, a controlled study using 360 mg of GLA daily from borage in patients with atopic dermatitis (3–17 years of age) was unable to reproduce these results.5 In another open pilot study, forty-eight children with infantile seborrheic dermatitis were treated with borage oil (0.5 ml) applied to the diaper region twice daily.6 Within ten to twelve days, all the children were free from skin lesions, even in the areas not treated with borage. Moreover, using the oil topically two to three times a week kept the seborrhea in remission until the patients were six to seven months old. There were no relapses after the oil was discontinued. How much is usually taken? For the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, the adult dose of GLA from borage is 1.4 grams daily for at least two months.7 Although one can try borage oil at a dose of 360 mg of GLA daily for eczema, research has not successfully supported its use for this condition.8 Topically, 0.5 ml of borage oil can be applied to areas of seborrhea daily for two weeks and then three times a week until the condition is stable. This natural oil has amazing healing properties. It has been used in virtually every major civilization since antiquity for the cure of normally fatal disabling conditions. In India, they called it erand. In ancient Greece it was known as kiki. It is mentioned in the Bible and in the most ancient Egyptian papyrus yet found. In Europe, in the Middle Ages, it was used by some to cure the plague. They called it the "palma christi" or the "hand of Christ." This extract of the castor bean is a safe, gentle, easy to use remedy for virtually any illness - when it is used externally. Enig, Ph.D - "Coconut oil has a unique role in the diet as an important physiologically functional food. The health and nutritional benefits that can be derived from consuming coconut oil have been recognized in many parts of the world for centuries. A review of the diet/heart disease literature relevant to coconut oil clearly indicates that coconut oil is at worst neutral with respect to atherogenicity of fats and oils and, in fact, is likely to be a beneficial oil for prevention and treatment of some heart disease. Additionally, coconut oil provides a source of antimicrobial lipid for individuals with compromised immune systems and is a nonpromoting fat with respect to chemical carcinogenesis. Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in the human or animal body. The antiviral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal properties of lauric acid and monolaurin have been recognized by a small number of researchers for nearly four decades: this knowledge has resulted in more than 20 research papers and several U.S. patents, and this past year it resulted in a comprehensive book chapter, which reviewed the important aspects of lauric oils as antimicrobial agents (Enig 1998). Monolaurin is the antiviral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal monoglyceride used by the human or animal to destroy lipid-coated viruses such as HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus, influenza, various pathogenic bacteria, including listeria monocytogenes and helicobacter pylori, and protozoa such as giardia lamblia. Some studies have also shown some antimicrobial effects of the free lauric acid." Not all Fats are Alike. Replacing the fats you now eat with coconut oil may be the wisest decision you can make to lose excess body fat. We often think that the less fat we eat, the better. However, you don’t necessarily need to reduce your fat intake, you simply need to choose a fat that is better for you, one that doesn’t contribute to weight gain. You can lose unwanted body fat by eating more saturated fat (in the form of coconut oil) and less polyunsaturated fat (processed vegetable oils). One of the remarkable things about coconut oil is that it can help you lose weight. Yes, there is a dietary fat that can actually help you take off unwanted pounds. Coconut oil can quite literally be called a low-fat fat. The anti-obesity effect of coconut oil is clear in all of the animal studies. When coconut oil was fed as 7% of energy to patients recovering from heart attacks, the patients had greater improvement compared to untreated controls, and no difference compared to patents treated with corn or safflower oils. Populations that consume coconut oil have low rates of heart disease. Coconut oil may also be one of the most useful oils to prevent heart disease because of its antiviral and antimicrobial characteristics. The EFA’s in the oil and seeds promote cellular growth, healthy skin, hair, and eyes, aid in immune response, disease prevention, weight control, and even in cognitive functions. The human brain is 60% fat; therefore the EFA’s are critically important to its proper function and good health. EFA’s are also the raw material the body needs to produce hormones, the body’s communication network for cellular activity. Hemp oil supports the body’s detoxification process due to the fact that the LA (linoleic acid) and ALA (Alpha- linolenic Acid) have the ability to carry toxic substances to the surface of the skin, intestinal tract, kidneys, and lungs where they can be eliminated from the body." The nutritional content of the hemp seed is impressive, offering 30% complete and highly digestible protein and containing over 36% essential fatty acids, which is 16% more than flaxseed. It is the best source of Omega 3, Linolenic acid and Omega 6, Linoleic acid, as well as GLA, Gamma Linoleic acid (approximately 3%). Hemp seed contains protein, lipids, choline, inositol, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, phospholipids, phytosterols, and all eight essential amino acids. The Omega-3 fat and its derivative, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), is so essential to a child's development that if a mother and infant are deficient in it, the child's nervous system and immune system may never fully develop, and it can cause a lifetime of unexplained emotional, learning, and immune system disorders. more Superimmunity for Kids by Leo Galland, M.D. with Dian Dincin Buchman, Ph.D. Through his research and clinical work, Dr. Galland has found that essential fatty acids (EFAs) are critical to a healthy immune system. He says "we are in the midst of a nationwide epidemic of EFA deficiencies that is undermining the health of our children." EFAs are essential because your child needs them to be healthy and his/her body can't make them. They must be supplied by the diet. There are numerous health problems associated with EFA deficiencies. These include hair loss, eczema-like skin eruptions, susceptibility to infections, arthritis-like conditions, liver or kidney degeneration, growth retardation and vision or learning problems. It's important to know about the different types of fats so you can give your child the good fats and avoid the harmful ones. Fatty acids come in two varieties: saturated and unsaturated. Saturated fats come from animal products such as meat and dairy. These fats are not essential since your child's body makes all (s)he needs. All saturated fats are totally unnecessary and unhealthy. They just clog up your child's arteries and interfere with his/her ability to use EFAs efficiently. Most vegetable oils are unsaturated. But be very careful about vegetable oils. Not all unsaturated fatty acids are essential. If your child eats a lot of unsaturated fatty acids that are nonessential, they can interfere (even more than saturated fats) with his/her body's ability to use the EFAs. more Boost Children's IQ, Improve Behavior, Get Your Child Off Ritalin with Flax Oil . Flaxoil for Animal Health Is Your Pet Deficient In A Key Nutrient? By Jade Beutler, R.R.T, R.C.P. A groundswell of nutrition conscious veterinarians are beginning to recommend to their clients that they supplement their animals diet with a daily dose of flaxseed oil, poured right over the food. The vets are finding remarkable results in clearing up skin conditions, relieving arthritic and inflammatory pain, as well as improved over all pet health. Mr. Paul Stitt, while addressing a scientific conference in North Dakota reported that flax increased bone strength as well as improved the silkiness and sheen of animals fur. When the diets of horses were fortified with flax, within three weeks their coats developed a beautiful sheen, and dandruff was greatly diminished. Within 9 months cracked hooves were completely healed. When a pregnant mare was fed flax, her offspring were larger, and grew faster than when previous to being fed flax. Further research indicates that horses fed flax and injected with the deadly organism Escherichia coli were better protected than those not fed flax, suggesting enhanced immunity in these animals. Select Alaskan sled dog mushers are fortifying their dogs diets with flax oil as it serves as a source of valuable energy, keeps less desirable saturated fats mobile in the blood stream, increases oxygen uptake to the cell, decreases recovery time from strenuous exercise, and prevents and heals worn and chaffed paws. Numerous studies conducted on animals and humans show that flax has powerful anti-tumor properties and may reduce tumor size by 50%. A testimonial taken from "Flax Oil and CancerI have a 13 year old dog. He has cancer. He's eyes are dull and he's so weak he can't lift his leg. I should have put him to sleep but I didn't want to. I put a Tbsp. of Flax oil and a half cup of cottage cheese in his bowl and he wolfed it down. I did that three times a day for ten weeks. Today he's running all over the place, his eyes are bright, his coat is shiny and he's gaining weight." That was the 2nd dog I'd heard of in 3 days that showed improvement from using Flax Seed oil. He was diagnosed on March 19, '99 and the next day I started him on 3 tablespoons of flaxoil and cottage cheese and within hours his energy improved. Four days later, on March 24th, I took him back to the vet and they did a blood test and were baffled because his white cell count was normal, his red blood cells were normal, and his platelets were clotting normal, he had no fever, and he was acting like a normal dog and they didn't understand. On April 13th he had another test and no cancer cells. HE HAS BEEN CANCER FREE SINCE MARCH 24th 1999. Just think I spent over $2000.0 on vets to find out what he really needed was a bottle of flax seed oil that costs about $12.00. Before this he was a very sick dog and according to the vets he was suppose to be dead by now." (Read Tim's full detailed story) Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) for improving the health of dogs, cats, and other pets. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are reponsible for basic cellular health in all body tissues and are fundamentally important for all animals. Researchers now consider EFAs to be as vital to our health and our pets' health as vitamins and minerals. A dog or cat’s immune system functions the same as humans. EFAs play a major role in the maintenance of healthy coat and skin for cats, dogs, and horses. Without essential fatty acids in our diets, cells can not be formed or function efficiently. Like humans, animals also use EFAs to produce hormone-like substances called eicosanoids, which are involved in many important biological functions in the body. Essential fatty acids are the building blocks for prostaglandins which work to regulate hormones, immune and nervous systems plus cardiovascular function. This is why these fatty acids are called “essential fatty acids” (EFAs). A groundswell of nutrition conscious veterinarians are beginning to recommend to their clients that they supplement their animals diet with a daily dose of fish oil or flaxseed oil, poured right over the food. These are the essential fatty acids (EFA's)—so named because the horse can't manufacture them in his body, making them 'essential' in his diet—linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid) and alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3). Cold Pressed Olive Oil Dr. Budwig of Germany discovered years ago that Flax oil had to be cold pressed to be effective as an immune stimulant for her cancer patients. In olive oil, only the Extra Virgin is cold pressed. Other grades are processed with varying degrees of heat. The only sure place to buy cold pressed oils is in a health food store. The label must say “cold pressed.” High temperatures damage oils by inducing lipid peroxidation which reduces the number of unsaturated bonds. Fish Oil More than half of the salmon Americans eat is farmed. Farm fish usually doesn't contain much omega-3 at all. Only fish from the oceans contain many omega-3 essential fatty acids." Much of the nutritional benefit of wild fish is lost in the farmed variety because of their artificial diets. More than half of the salmon Americans eat is farmed, that is, not hunted and dragged flailing from the sea but raised docilely in giant sea cages floating in the ocean, where they grow big and fast on high protein diets, just like their feed lot and henhouse friends. Much of the nutritional benefit of wild fish is lost in the farmed variety because of their artificial diets. "Farmed salmon is much more consistent than wild salmon," says Swecker. "You can grow it year-round. The buyer can expect to have it on his doorstep 52 weeks a year. He can plan a restaurant menu. And the people he serves can plan on having it when they go there. Anytime you can standardize something it makes it more convenient, instead of wasting a lot of time looking for alternatives." The salmon he's talking about is not the one you fish for past the Golden Gate Bridge. That's Pacific salmon, of which there are five different West Coast species -- Chinook (King), Coho (Silver), Sockeye, Pink and Chum -- and a sixth in Asia. Each has different characteristics: more oil, more fat, more flavor, different flavor. The salmon Swecker means is Atlantic salmon. Nearly all the farmed salmon in the world is the single Atlantic species. The first West Coast fish farmers bred Coho and Chinook, back in the '70s, but the darn things wouldn't quit swimming. That made the farmers mad, since swimming burns fat, ill-advised in a business that sells by the pound. So they brought in Atlantics, who don't mind treading water for a living. At first the farmers tried to re-create their natural diet, feeding them lots of fish. But salmon can eat 10 times their body weight, which meant they were killing 10 pounds of fish, or some substantial fraction, for every pound of product. So fish feed manufacturers started adding vegetable proteins, such as soy, canola, corn gluten, animal byproducts, including poultry and feathers, and vitamin and mineral supplements. Fish feed currently consists of only 35 percent fish, and falling. Like herbivorous cattle fed meat, carnivorous fish are now largely vegetarians. The result is a blander fish, which, according to Swecker, is just what the public wants. "American consumers generally prefer bland white fish as a major preference," he says. "It's not so 'fishy.'" It also has less nutritional value, says Frank Hu, the lead author of the 16-year study of omega-3 and cardiac disease that appeared in April's Journal of the American Medical Association. Hu is assistant professor of nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health. "Farm fish usually doesn't contain much omega-3 at all. Only fish from the oceans contain many omega-3 essential fatty acids." Essential fatty acids are not produced by the body and must be absorbed through food. The April study did not look at farmed fish, although Hu says "previous studies have documented that." "Depending on what kind of food they're eating, it will store in the body as omega-3 or -6. Fish in farms eat mostly corn or soybean and will store omega-6 in the body. Wild fish and algae will be stored as omega-3." Omega-6s are found in vegetable oils and processed foods, among others. They have a contrary, though balancing, effect on 3s. A one-to-one ratio is ideal, according to the American Cancer Society. However, "many Americans have 10 to 20 times more omega-6s than omega-3s in their systems," ACS says. Studies show that women with breast cancer have two-to-five times more omega-6s than omega-3 fatty acids in their systems." When diets high in omega-6s are fed to fish, the result is the same as Junior shoveling Big Macs down his gullet: it super-sizes 'em. Artificial Coloring Bland or no, consumers still prefer their salmon to look like salmon, which is why feed manufacturers add astaxanthin, a chemical analog of the actual pigment, to pink up the flesh. As with omega-3, wild salmon have pink flesh due to their diet. Farmed salmon, living like couch potatoes, each confined to an area the size of a bathtub, bloat and grow white with fat. Concerned market researchers cornered shoppers with "SalmoFan"TM color cards produced by Roche, the drug company behind astaxanthin, and learned something important: "Deeply colored flesh was associated with higher quality, better tasting salmon," according to sales literature for Sysco, the giant food service supplier. "This market research indicated that consumers may be willing to pay more for deeply colored salmon." The color that resonated strongest with the targeted group was Number 33, which, in the Big Box carton of Crayolas, falls midway between "Red-orange" and "Tickle Me Pink." Curing Hyperinsulinemia, Type II Diabetes by Thomas Smith (excerpts) "To cure Hyperinsulinemia, Type II Diabetes, Syndrome X and many other consequential diseases that stem from poisonous fats and oils, it is important to realize that the chronic ingestion of Refined and Hydrogenated fats and oils is implicated as a causal agent in these diseases. Margarine, artificial shortenings, refined oils and all Hydrogenated edible products are long term toxic to the human metabolism. An important consideration about these edible oils is a widespread fraudulent advertising technique that enables the oils manufacturer to sell known toxic oils to the unsuspecting public without breaking the law. Many refined vegetable oils are advertised as monounsaturated or as polyunsaturated in order to confuse the purchaser. There is no law to require the oils manufacturer, or the store, to advise the consumer that these "monounsaturates" and "polyunsaturates" are trans-isomers and other toxic byproducts that result from the destruction of the good edible oils that they think they are getting. Since no law exists to keep their claims honest, oils manufacturers feel free to deceive with dishonest claims that few consumers understand. In some circles this is not considered to be fraud." learn more Natural Treatments for Diabetes Diabetic condition improved with fulvic acids, B12 vitamin, bitter melon, and gamma linolenic acid (GLA) found in borage oil, and herbal remedies. Consumer Alert! - Raising Public Awareness Most modern maladies are caused by prolonged exposure to a combination of negative lifestyles and toxic environmental factors, including junk food and malnutrition, pesticides, antibiotics, microwaves, chemical pollution of food, water and air, lack of exercise and chronic stress. These factors are further aggravated by the failure of modern medicine to recognize them as agents of dis-"ease" and death and the consequent failure to take preventative measures against them. The same chemical companies that produce toxic chemicals also produce prescription drugs, veterinary medicines, a wide array of medical products. Families with toxin induced illnesses often spend large sums for drugs and medical treatment. This circle of profit is not conspiracy theory, but an easily provable fact. Why are a growing number of parents and health care professionals around the world questioning vaccination? The controversy stems from the thousands of deaths and permanent disabilities attributed to vaccination annually, as well as the many published medical studies, government statistics, congressional testimonies, and other credible sources that directly contradict commonly held assumptions about vaccine safety and effectiveness.
