Reaction to socks

Have noticed in about the past eight months, that socks I buy, with an elastic section at the top, all give me a reaction in the area where this part of the sock sits against the skin.

Anyone else have similar?

Socks from a couple of years ago do not give the same reaction.... itchy and red tiny blotches in the area......

Wonder what they are putting in the elastic....??????

Regards

Jorge

Jorge, aren't skin irritations the worst!? I hate it when instead of

sleeping, I just lay there and scratch. Fortunately I've found some

fabulous products to help with itchy skin and/or really dry skin -

both of which plague me from time to time. A large part of this is

using a laundry detergent with no harmful chemicals (all grocery store

brands have the harmful chemicals in them that irritate our skin) -

http://www.katu.com/news/story.asp?id=57295 (poor dog). We have SO

many chemicals bombarding us daily, it's a wonder that we don't have

MORE problems than we do. Something I would suggest for all of us -

reduce the toxic/chemical overload we have on our bodies. Help our

bodies fight the good fight for OUR sake! I feel so much better after

eliminating all possible chemicals from my personal environment.

Maybe switching brands (or going to white socks) will help for now. I

wish you the best.

Hi Jorge,

I cannot tolerate elastics either. There has to be some sort of cloth between me and that artificial stuff. And,

that stuff is in socks, underwear, the waist band of slacks, and now many artificial fabrics use the same components in them.

All chemicals that are somehow turned into fabrics and elastic.

Just as Sharon says below. It seems to be nasty chemicals. But, I must say, for me, a lot of 100% cotton socks seem

to cause blisters easily when walking. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a particular brand or type of natural

fabric socks that anyone has noticed does not cause blisters, or is woven finely?

Thanks

Jackie
